HFL Division 2 (Country)

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Enough is enough, get rid of United Eagles and Sedan Cambrai to C grade. Do it and do it now. The central comp is considered one of the best leagues in SA yet the country div is laughed at when it shouldn't be! If these two teams were removed your comp would be so much better! Why is this still being discussed HFL? Grow a pair!

This comp is seriously a joke ,again you have a team that doesnt score.

Yes the HFL haven't done enough to fix this problem, and the image of the league has taken a battering from it. But when a club is struggling (look at Mt Lofty a-few years back) you don't just kick them out of the league saying they aren't good enough, you work with them, help them get back on there feet and get back to being a strong club.

How would u like it Lebron, if Mt Barker started to struggle and got belted every week and didn't win a game for 3 years (although that would never happens because of the $$$ that Mt Barker have). Then HFL said that you were being demoted to div 2 and if they didn't improve down there they would be kicked out of the league. It’s a very demoralising thing for a club (even more than getting belted every week) to be told that you are no-good and you can’t play in the league.

Newsbreaker, you are so wrong because that is exactly what should happen, if Mt barker or any club lost 5 consecutive games by over 40 goals they should be put on notice for the year and if they continued to do so for the next season then its good night or be suspended for 3 years to give them a break and to re group. Its not that much of a science but the HFL just all look at each other hoping that someone will make a decision. But i think we all know that no one at Footy House can make a decision so that rest of the league suffer!

This comp is almost a Charlie Sheen-esque comedy. looking in the Sunday Mail each week is going to be (and already has been) very humorous... The Hills Central Division in 2011 is already looking to be very exciting, tight, and highly regarded throughout the SA footy community. Now I know that Country Division is basically Div 2, and standard of footy (etc) is obviously lower, but for **** sake, surely there has to be more pride and competition and professionalism shown from the HFL... Couldnt agree more with some of these previous comments...

The opening round of 'C's commenced yesterday and was meant to be a triple-header at Milang. At this early stage, two Div 1 'C's sides forfeited (including Mt Barker), hence only one game was played. The Panthers had a full side but missed a home-game hit-out altogether, meaning we don't get a run until May, not to mention the loss of revenue. Helloooooo HFL! Surely an obvious solution exists???

Correct me if im wrong but has the Hills C Grade comp already have 7 teams within it, if so i would imagine by the Hills Football League making a strong stand it would be good for the competition(8Team Comp) and Callington to be within the C Grade comp.I also believe Callington would not have to travel the same long distances they do now as Blackwood,Hahndorf,Ironbank,Milang,Mt Barker,Mt Lofty and Uraidla are not like heading out to Kersbrook or Gumeracha for instance.Wake up to youselves HFL

I feel for the genuine clubs in the league who are trying to go about their day to day business which is being overshadowed by a circus. Went to the last Hills Country GF and it was senasational. Good stanard of footy, bumper crowd etc etc. Have a couple of mates that play there and they love it (apart from the Callington games) The Callington situation is affecting the image and each individual club. As an example, I am from a neighbouring league. If we had a couple of recruits from Adelaide deciding between our club and a Hills country club I reckon we'd have you by the balls because we have a fair bit of ammo to talk you down. Take Callington out and this all of a sudden is not the case.

If I were a Hills Country club I would not wait for the HFL or Callington. Get 1 rep from each of the other clubs and get together and come up with a plan. Organise an opportunity to take these reps to a Callington committee meeting, pitch the plan then present this to the league. Surely the Callington committee understand what is best for the league and their club. Its time to get serious. How would the league react if every club agreed not to play until Callington were gone from the top level?

This terrible saga should end, but it isn't going to end.

FACT 1 :- The Callington Committee DON'T understand what is best for the league and their club.

FACT 2 :- Callington insist that they are worthy of being in this Div 2 comp and not a single poster here will convince them otherwise, no matter how hard you try.

FACT 3 :- There isn't a "League" as such. OWEN IS THE LEAGUE. It's common knowledge. It's otherwise impossible to believe that 6 or so apparently experienced Directors and footy-heads could, in their wildest dreams, allow such nonsense to continue. The "League" need to have more meetings and if so, not allow those meetings to be engineered.

FACT 4 :- It's common knowledge in footy circles that Owen has assured Callington of his full support to stay where they are. God only knows what's behind that. Any guesses welcome.

FACT 5 :- We will still be discussing this here in a month or two and the situation will not have progessed one centimetre. I'll repost this at the end of May.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Well if you've all physically as a group fronted the callington board face to face, talked to glen rosser face to face or forfeited against cally then you've done all you can. Its a bloody pity because football never gets spoken about on this forum and the only exciting aspect about the country division is picking up the sunday mail to see what records have been broken. Good luck

Cheers to all recent posters here re United Eagles. All true, good reading and not nasty, just looking after the game. I was going to propose a solution to the problem in that all teams should forfeit against Callington after Round 9, so everyone is on equal footing. Then I realised Callington would get a win every week and make the finals.
