you just cant kick a side out of the comp because they get flogged every week, what about the social side of country footy that calli or any other club create when the weekend comes around, there is more to a country footy club than what happens on the field each week, if the can get a committee and enough members and players to form a club and therefore put a team on the paddock each week they have the right to be in the league, perhaps the other sides that are recuiting big name players into there club and kicking cricket score should look at them self and ask is that good for the footy.

cally record I think;
2006 no wins
2007 2 wins vs gums?
2008 3 wins
2009 no wins
2010 1 point ( abandoned game)

Impressive?

Ps I note countryfooty.com are not including hills country comp in their leading goalkickers anymore coz they say that cally and s/c are uncompetitive!!

Best on hill, I don't think people want them kicked out of the league. What I think they want (or what I'd like to see anyway) is Cally to drop their A & B grade (of which they only had 11 players named in the B's on the w/end) and just enter a C grade until they start building a bit of depth and start getting more juniors coming through (they don't have Snr or Jnr colts). Hopefully then after a season or two in the C grade with perhaps better results, they might start getting more peple join the club and will be in a position to rejoin with A's and B's and won't get the floggings they are now. At the moment, their club is not up to the standard of Div 2 and until they show a plan to get it to a better standard, they will keep copping flack.

I just noticed that!! Is that a tad unfair??? Is it for a new car or something  If it's not for a prize, then what does it matter?

Perhaps instead of excluding the whole league, add an extra 5 spots and make it a top ten?

I reckon just put an asterix next to their name*
Like on Brownlow night when blokes are ineligible.

It was a joke last year when something like 5 out of the top 7 goal kickers in countrySA were from the same comp.

Surely the goalkickers don't deserve that good recognition.

Check out a couple of the century's last year - how many kicked against 2 teams? At least 60/70?
Unbelievable!!

Yep, good point Banker. Totally professional in Pantherland, good club, no $ involved, live within their means with a strong player and supporter base.

With 12 games against some decent competition (once Barker & Hahndorf get the numbers out), surely C grade would have been a smarter option. Or is there an option for Barker (maybe this year not a great example) and/or some teams from Murray bridge even, contacting Cally on selection night telling them they have eg 3 players that didn't make the cut and are up for a game? I know this can mess with players coming from different leagues etc but if this dead horse is gonna get flogged why not try something like that? You CANNOT get worse than where Cally's at now...surely...

How bout we talk about the footy this week,

Birdwood vs Kangarilla - Should be able to account for them ok. Hoping for a tougher hit out this week.
Sedan vs United Eagles - Game of the round!!! you would think Sedan, although no doubt United Eagles will see this as their grand final but Sedan are a tougher outfit. Sedan by 10 goals
Gumeracha - Meadows - Will be another cracker. Going purely on the first 2 round i'll go Bummers by a goal
Kersbrook - Nairne - Don't think Kersbrook seem to be the force they have been the last couple of years, although we be too go for Nairne. Brookers by 6 goals
Maccy vs Echunga - The local derby! Echunga should blitz it by 10 - 15 goals.

Gum's V's Dogs will be a cracker, that you have good spot on! however i think meadows might pull a win out here. They are better coached and most importantly play like a team if they can match it with gum's early and get a foot in the door its than there's to run away with, with the gums bois think of new words to call each other. meadows by 5 goal

Will be match of the round, home ground advantage might be the difference. Looks like the Dogs have got that winning feeling back along with a few blokes that have been there before. Gummers possibly have a better team on paper, do they have the discipline and teamwork? Meadows not to be underestimated. My tip: Gummers.... Just.

Probably not a true indication of where meadows are at. Played seven teenages in the game yesterday. Be interesting what the return match brings.

Gum had 5 in their side too. I expected a much tighter contest than that and so did everyone else here, someone even boldly picked the Dogs for the top 3. Looks a long way off.

Agree the Callington situation is a joke, but to not include Sedan-Cambrai as being "non-competitive" is very insulting IMO. Maccy kicked 29, Birdwood who weren't the worst team in Div 1, kicked 40 against them. There are plenty of teams having 30-35 goals kicked against them.
Look at Bridgewater so far this year - should goals against them not be counted? You can't say they should be counted just because they play in a higher league, as if Sedan-Cambrai were still in the old Mid-Murray league, I'm sure they would still be competitive and any goals kicked in that comp would be recorded.
A few years ago Cock (?) from Bute got in the Advertiser and a bit of publicity because he kicked 15 goals against Kadin who got thumped by 100+ points every week that year.

I'm not saying they shouldn't count.
I'm saying this is a joke!

Leading Goalkickers Club Rd Total
Josh Hill T Valley 1 144
Chad Dawe Meadows 0 118
Nathan Hart Kersbrook 4 109
Michael Ashby Gumeracha 0 103
Quinton Graham Gumeracha 0 102
Lachy Fleet Echunga 2 77
Ryan Byrne T Valley 1 74
Ben Gunning T Valley 3 71
Mark Clayton T Valley 0 60
Jeff Lines Nairne/Brem 0 60
Michael Niedzwiecki Kersbrook 0 43
Brett Wakefield Kangarilla 0 37

5 centurions from the same comp! These blokes don't deserve the same recognition as other guys around the state who don't get to kick 70 of their goals in 4 games!

I know they kick goals against better teams and I'm sure are very good players... but it makes Hills Country league leading goal kicker table a joke!

As editor of the site, I thought that might be a good way of making a stand about the situation there in the HFL Country FL
There is no way I am going to include Hills Country this season on the statewide list of 2011. End of story.
