Went to watch my nephew play in the U13's Nairne v Kersbrook. Parents were commenting on the high level and interaction from the central umpire. Looking a little harder it was the Impact Umpire. Mad Mick Taylor needs to cut the umbilical cord and get SJ into the 1's.

Actually I forgot to comment closer to the game but Johno umpired our round 1 17's and b grade and all players were really happy with him. Kept up really well, was quite fair and explained decisions well, even if we could all hear every word from the sideline!

Patrick Willis and Jeff Gieschen are trying to get hold of his number.
Do you know how many Johnson's there are in the phone book?

Don't want to get into a slanging match, because I love your website, and don't disagree with making a stand against Cally.
I still think it is insulting to S-C given what they have been through their last two years, and their seeming determination to keep their club running for their community and hopefully one day become more successful
Looking through the scores there this year, they are more than a silly chance to knock off Kangarilla.

Entirely fair and valid comments. S-C have every right to be in Div 2 and deserve full support because they have the numbers required and a plan for success. Good luck to them. It's a very unreasonable deal that they've been coupled with Cally by some posters and I agree that to do so is totally insulting indeed.

It all comes back to the same old, same old question......
Why on earth would a League which purports to be acting in the best interests of football allow (a) a hardworking Club such as S-C to cop the fall-out of Cally's disaster, then (b) sit on its' hands and watch all the other Clubs in Hills Country be penalised by having their inclusion on web-sites cancelled and their goal-kickers scrutinized?

"Best interests of football" my arse. We all know this site is regularly scanned by Mr. President and some of his friends. None of us understand the logic of all this. PLEASE EXPLAIN??

VERY WELL SAID CRUMBER AND OTHERS. TOTALLY SICK OF ALL THIS. GET A LIFE OWEN AND ALL HFL SO-CALLED DIRECTORS. HILLS COUNTRY IS A LAUGHING STOCK AND IT'S ALL DUE TO YOU. You are supposed to be representing us.

Dogmatic, won't find it under Johnson.
Has changed his birth name, search under "I" for "Impact Umpire"
Are you prepared to pay the price? WILL YOU PAY THE PRICE?

Talk in a SFL forum that if the SFL returned to 2 Divisions Kangarilla would be looking to return to the SFL. Any truth behind this?

As I understand there are a few on the committee that are orginally from the SFL so it's probably got some weight behind it.

The 'Impact' Umpire will be consistently umpiring A grade by the seasons end as the man is picking up the trade easily. Imagine if he gets the Country Division Grand Final with Birdwood in it

Mate, if he's doin' a good job, why wouldn't they? It's hard to get umpires full stop, let alone good ones. It's good to hear people commenting about how 'good' the umpiring is.
Although there were some differences, I think most people there would agree that the club is better off because of his tenure?

Fair call mate.

Well said ..the comp has some serious issues besides cally there is a huge gap between top and 8th team, the comp seems very uninteresting bordering on boring ,this is evidenced by noone writing much about games each week only snippets thats because results are known beforehand. Until something is done the comp will continue to be the worst of all regional comps.

There is a big difference between the top 5 and the rest this year - If a side in the 5 plays a bottom side this year it will probably be at least a 10 goal win.
Don't have such a short memory; I know that CUE for the last couple of years and Gum the year before that have struggled, but traditionally Divvy 2 has been a strong and entertaining competition, as good as any country league in the state.

Footy has been around for 150 years or so and has evolved over that time. Big money in country footy has only been a major issue in the last 10 years, and the points system has been introduced to combat it. It will develop into an effective system and the game will continue to evolve.

Look at what's happening with the supermarkets and milk at the moment - 2 teams have gotten too big and the governing body will need to step in to level the playing field so the smaller ones can still compete.

There must be competition. It wouldn't be very interesting to go and watch the same two sides play each other every week.

Not living in the past now...what is the competition like now? Clearly looked upon as a country wide joke and even highlighted last year on national TV of the type of joke it has become with those 2 goons (with all due respect) gloating about how many goals they kicked playing against well let's face it no one...

Do everyone a favor and fix the league as it's starting to get out of control

Comparing footy to milk prices, classic! To me the Callington situation is more like the Polly Waffle, it was aroud for a lot of years and i'm sure some loved it but it wasn't pulling it's weight so the big decision had to be made and it was axed!

I didn't make myself very clear, they were mean't to be 2 separate issues - the quality of Divvy 2, then big money in country footy. The milk comparison wasn't meant to describe the Callington situation specifically, but how very financial clubs such as Mt Barker and TV could dominate the competition without regulation. This would make it impossible for clubs without access to large amounts of cash to realistically compete against these teams.

Cally Vs Gums - One would think Gums by around 40 Goals
Kangy Vs Sedan - Might be a close one going on previous three weeks of Kangys form, but i think they will get up at home.
Meadows Vs Kersbrook - Kersbrook by 5 Goals
Nairne B Vs Macclesfield - Nairne in a Close on again.

Game of the round would be Birdwood Vs Echunga - I think Echunga may just get the win at home, Birdwood hasnt really had a challenge yet this year so will be interesting to see how they respond.
