Indian - if you're talking up a clash at the Thunderdome, how can we take your other comments seriously?
Sprinter made a good point.
Every team has a chequebook, Lofty has had trouble in the past getting players up the hill. It falls together and people whinge about it.
At this rate, after the Pine Ave massacre on the weekend, there is just one team near Lofty. hahndorf did sit in third, but I think may now be 4th or 5th, with a third loss in 4 games looming soon vs Uraidla. 2 weeks away I think.

Im seriously not trying to cause trouble by my comments. I just think that all clubs have a cheque book , but some have trouble attracting the right players.

Lofty for example got belted every week for 10 years so I doubt they feel sorry for other clubs.
I would like to see Kangarilla come up to Division one to get rid of the bye, although I think they will need to spend some coin.

In fairness to Ironbank at least Excell is playing the kids and not paying duds like some other clubs. They have a great Senior colts side so I think clubs should be careful bagging them to much it all may come back to haunt us one day.

I have also heard a rumour that Kersbrook are trying to get into the SAAFL because they recruit most of their players from down town anyway.

Kangys wont go up to central div, even if they won the country flag they wouldnt. They only like being the big fish in the small pond. Always have, always will.

Regardless of whether its Kangarilla or whoever, someone has to come up and get rid of the bye in the Central division.

I know that Birdwood are having meetings deciding whether to come up to the top tier or not. If anyone does come up it will definantly be them

The bye isn't so terrible. I'd say most of us on here have woken up with a sore body on a Sunday. 2 off a winter is fine, I think.
Logic would be that the div 2 premier come up. Mind you, buy enough players/attract enough good ones and who knows how other teams would go?
Sprinter - maybe the best part of ten years, but lofty had ups and downs, and i can tell you that there would be NO sympathy for any other teams. I don't think any team receives any sympathy. You still have to run out and smash into them twice a year, no matter where they are on the ladder.

Central: Stapleton (Lofty) Trzesinki (Lofty) Wood (Lofty) Mehta (Lofty) Baldock (Lofty) Burch (Lofty) Cutting (Lofty) White (Lofty)
Sutherland (Uraidla) never puts himself in the best players.
Loffler (Uraidla)
Stansborough (Hahndorf)
Bellman (Mount Barker)
Shee or Contin ( Onkaparinga)
Butchard ( Bridgewater)
King ( Lobethal)

Country Pearce you may as well give it to him now.

Names just out for the Southern Districts Squad

Pucker & Thomas( Uraidla,) Contin, Shee, & Kerber ( Onkas), Stansburra & Harkness ( Handorf)Trigger, Wait, Gordon, Cutting & Burch ( Lofty) and Dawe from Meadows.

Thought Kingy and Bellman were a tad unlucky!

Overall squad of 50 to be cut to 30. Probably take 7 or 8 from each of the 4 zones

I was more reffering to your comments regarding the Country Division. Don't forget that it's made up mostly of teams who have less than 1000 residents in their town hence less money being able to be generated.

See where you're coming from Stan but the day Gary Hughes departs as coach, they won't even be able to compete in Country Division, let alone Central Division.

Doubt anyone now will ever go up to Central division from Country as I don't think there are too many clubs that are going to be able to come up with the $50K annually that it will take to compete. More likely that a Central division team will come down, which may be closer to reality than some would think given that Bridgewater were in dire trouble up until about a fortnight before the start of this season.
