Was a good umpire but felt not so much in games that involved us and I can only assume that was because he had been a Maccy player so he didn't wan't to be seen to be giving them favouritism. But he was still nowhere near as bad as a former umpire (involved at another club) who must have been holding a grudge from his playing days back in the 70's and early 80's.

Was this a birdwood umpire? As much as what he did for the club and was a great bloke, Pat Lundie used to give birdwood a flogging when he umpired i assume because he didn't want to be seen favoring his ex club.

Got up by 11 points, were the better side most of the day I think but in saying that birdwood really dug deep in the last to make an entertaining last quarter! Meadows up by a point today in the bs aswell

 Better to go out in straights sets, than lose a GF as the unbackable favourite ;)

Is it now called the Birdwobbles? When were those last Birdwood Premiership Medals handed out Rooster? I don't think there is one in your home? ;)

disappointing day for Birdwood obviously.
i will dispute Cougar on a few things though... I would rather have a shot at playing off in a grandfinal any day, than going out in straight sets. i'd rather the pain of losing a GF, knowing we at least made it there, than being like kersbrook having our asses handed to us by birdwood and then meadows.... and cougar don't forget, in the birdwood v kersbrook stakes for 2011. birdwood 2, kersbrook 0, draw 1.

and also.. I'd hardly say Birdwood were unbackable favourites, considering Echunga finished top at the end of the year. it was always going to be a close game, and it was. unfortunately we weren't able to get ahead.

still... playing in 3 GF's on one day (terrible to lose all three of course) just shows how strong Birdwood as a whole club continues too be. its a great run club, with awesome juniors (...Kerbsrook??) and a solid bunch of people making decisions. congrats to all the players, coaches and club in general for making it that far.. lets hope to go one better in 2012!

Hey Rooster finishing 2nd means you are 1st of the losers. No bragging rights here mate. You are right though Kersbrook Juniors are a big problem. Will Birdwood look to go back up ? Certainly appear to have the depth , I dont think you have to win the GF to be able to move up . The CLUB situ is the important thing and you guys are right up there with that.

It's been a really tough weekend at Rooster park, but rest assured the boys will be raring to give it a another crack next year and hopefully one better.

Echunga were simply the hungrier team on the day. They adapted to the slippery conditions before we did and hit in really hard. Full credit to them they were certainly the better team on the day.
Devestating loss for the B's also. 1 point is never easy to take and was particularly hard on verteran Rusty Schultz with his 8th grand final loss...

During the day I was really impressed with the show Kersbrook put on. Car park was run well, parking was excellent, canteen and bbq looked after by plenty of players and volunteers... well done on that front. Was pretty childish by a number of Brooker ferals getting stuck into the A's as they left the ground at the end of the game. I can take as much heckling as the next but what a bunch of fools to stand at the door mouthing off after a hard fought grand final loss.

I would have to disagree about the canteen. Very slow, food not cooked properly, cakes days old, hot dog rolls like cardboard. As for all the heckling after the game I guess thats what happens after too many beers at the footy.

I was just responding to ur mate Cougar.... if i had to choose between going out in straight sets, and actually making the GF and having a shot at winning, even if it means eventually losing. I'd take the 2nd option everyday of the week.

i cant see any changes to the divisions next year - i'm hearing that neither birdwood or echunga want to be promoted to central.

I thought this result might drag you out of your self-imposed forums exile old man.
