Heard grand final day that this would happen. Does seem strange and you wonder if any players will go with him. Did hear that former sturt champ Bruce Lennon is set to take over

You would hope it wasn't done just because Lennon was available and even then you'd think it would only be because Lennon is bringing quality players.

Lennon would be a bit old to bring gun players. Unless he has had his finger in a SANFL pie

Could this be the rebirth of an impact coach. Word coming mid season they were sounding out a Ross Lyon take over at seasons end.

Heard Matt Kreig has applied for the North Adelaide U18 job. Also a few Birdwood faithful don't want to keep paying the huge amount of money they did this year.
Anyone know of the allocted points to the clubs for 2012?

Madsen was a dead man walking all year. Old Echunga president appointed him, but the new prez had Lennon firmly in his sights for 2012. Even a Premiership couldn't save him. Extraordinary but true, yes a premiership coach has been moved on.

Its true I believe, unbelievable!

At least Scotty has a bit of currency now with the flag behind him, would be interesting if he coached against Echunga next year!

If Madsen gets another gig somewhere, will some of the Echunga players leave?

That is really crazy...He seems a really capable coach and why would you mess with that formula?

Will players follow him? I know Fleet followed him before but I guess it's always hard to leave a winning side...

Geez it's interesting reading some of the dribble that uninformed posters are dishing up on this site regarding the Madsen sacking! Fleet hasnt followed Madsen anywhere he had been at echunga for a year before scott arrived no players will leave on his behalf! Scott is a terrific bloke whom everybody likes, however as the year wore on the standard of training and trainingattendances began to drop and inevitably so did performance. It would seem the board believed that the drop in standard was largely due to the way the team was coached. I am aware that winning a premiership and only losing 2 games on the way is a great achievement but at times against the lower ranked teams and at training the standard and attitude was not good enough and at the end of the day the buck tops with the coach. Echunga have set a level of training and performance that is quite high over the last few years and it seems that on too many occasions this year that level was not met. Rant over just thought I'd chuck my 2 cents in

I see your point Bookie, but doesnt some of that fall onto the players, espically the senior ones?
I think it would depend on where Madsen ended up as to whether players would follow. Most of the Echunga boys are locals, and the ones that arent could be considered local as they have been there so long.
Rekon the only player leaving is Maslin, have been told that Lofty are chasing him pretty hard and he obviously still has mates over there.

So boards now decide coaches on training performance not premierships?

So if he go the trainings right but lost the flag he would still be there?
