Heard a rumour that Fairfax/Rural Press might be closing the Lincoln Office
I guess now that the Times is coordinated in Whyalla and printed in Murray Bridge
it has lost its relevance to the Local Community. I believe some staff will be offered a transfer
to Whyalla. Others may receive a package. Stay tuned :( :(

It wouldn't close the editorial department.

What would be relocated would be production, which is advertisement design etc.

So, you would still have journalists/editors in Lincoln, the advertising and graphic design has been centralised in Whyalla for a few years now for most Rural Press publications.

They closed the press in Whyalla a few years ago too, which is where the Times and all other EP papers were printed.

So, apart from the ad designs and where it is printed, I would say the content of your paper will remain written by local journalists/editors etc.

By the way, I don't know if the above actually IS the case.

Also, the comment about the Times being coordinated in Whyalla and printed in Murray Bridge "losing its relevance to the local community" is pretty ignorant.

I don't believe anyone in Whyalla "co-ordinates" the paper and who cares if it is printed in MB? It was printed in Whyalla before that.

I think the Times is a damn good country paper and one of the best in the state.

Must have some relevance O/S I hear that an official announcement is next week
I heard that the State Manager is coming over Friday for a visit McAuliffe ?
most of the news can be picked up online and thereby circumventing the need for reporters etc
I think the paper will stay but not in its current format.
