That incident was an interesting one. The umpire told us while he was being stretchered off that they have been told to pay a free kick to any contact head high no matter what happens. I think they really need to manage that because if they keep paying free kicks to players who put their head down to play for the free, we could have someone seriously hurt. Parsons didn't look in a good way but hopefully it was just concussion! The AFL are now letting a lot of those incidents go because if they keep paying them players will keep doing it....The GSFL needs to adopt the same way of umpiring!

Hugh Dalloway wrote:E/Bay v Willunga was a fantastic match and Willunga deserved the hard fought win. Steele was the dominant big man on the ground and without Welsh The Bays were very 1 dimensional going into attack and the Willunga defenders were able to zone off and get numbers to the contests. Willunga were a lot harder in the 1 on 1 contests and that is where they won the game. E/Bay have been fantastic all year with their full 18 man press but when it came to 1 on 1 contests Willunga were dominant. Contested football wins finals so E/Bay have a bit of work to do in this area if they are to win the premiership. The free kick count was unbelievable as well with a lot of E/Bay players "playing" for free kicks and were able to fool the umpires on many occasions. When the game wasn't going the Bay's way there was finger pointing and lack of leadership and this is one area which teams should look to exploit. Wilson going down is going to be a big loss for the Bays and will test their depth with Perrie looking like he was playing on 1 leg for most of the game also.

Thanx Sando.

Yeah I will get on the creek$ at $12 also 'jackpot jim' cos the odds will drop dramatically next week after they beat the bays & everyone gets on board. Especially if the bays have welsh & wilson out this week. Creek$ were just about full strength v strath last week apart from basir & hill if he comes back? Strath had a lot of injuries but that was no excuse for a 9 goal to 2 last qtr embaressment.
The mid year inclusions of rogers, perry, lally(all with league experience) plus cleggett has definately made them a tough team to beat. Only weakness i can see is in the ruck but they can deal with that with a long list of quality midfielders rolling thru.
The top 5 isn't set just yet 'luvs footy' with mclaren starting to play some good attacking footy probably needing an upset vs willunga this week to give it a good shake. Goolwa also if they can beat strath this week will be around the mark again. An interesting few weeks to come.

Parsons is just an example of someone who put their head over the footy but keeping it there for 2 or 3 metres to gain contact like Joel selwood does! Our guy couldn't physically move out the way... It's not a crack at parsons but more the way it needs to be handled by the umpires and league!

Is Ryan Lewis still coaching Yank? Heard 2 stories - he's pulled the pin and won't coach out the year or he has told them he won't be back next year?

I thought he had a 3 year deal negotiated in 2012. One poor year surely would't see him go. At least he will have some more points next year. :(

Our GF is tomorrow but you'd think our advantage of 2 key forwards against a smallish Strath defence will be snuffed out by another wet Saturday.

On the weather, Creek under water? If so what happens with tomorrow's match?
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

WOW from what I have been told / heard it is to do with work and personal reasons , I am not sure how the 3 year deal was stuctured and when it was actually completed however he has been at the Club for 4 years so maybe it was up for review.

Here they come! Best not to win too many games or you end up with points issues! ;)
