Rumour has it that Lobethal are making plenty of enquiries about playing Barossa League, but cant enter because they don't have a Netball club to follow the footy!

I take it that neither Netball club wants to join the Barrossa league. Can't say that I blame them. Why would they want to?

When do Birdwood and Lobethal play again? If Birdwood are to have any chance of avoiding relegation they have to win that.

I have it on good authority that there is a very strong indication that there will be an 11 team comp next year

Well you must know what each club is going to vote at the special meeting?

Amatuer footy - can't beat the facts is totally off the mark. Constitutionally it cant happen - 11 teams - and if it does will be taken further. Will be a QC at the meeting next week as a civi just observing. Won't say which club but it is a top one not mates with Mal or Trent. They do not like the way certain clubs have tried to demean the value of the comp with their approaches. - Interesting week coming up I say. Only loser will be the HFL. The Courier hit it on the head - Put Cally and Sedan in C grade and put Lobey back in Div 2 - Have a ten team and an eight team comp. Common sense that for all concerned. Then when lobey learn how to win again let em up. Birdwood will win 3 games tommorrow against Bridgy - at least 7 points. Games to be thrown now.

Has Been's comments very interesting. QC's hiding as a "civi" in the meeting. Ha Ha Ha. Won't he/she be wearing their wig? I also heard Rumpole of the Bailey will be hiding in a shoe box at the bottom of a lake!!
Get a grip. Clubs covering all bases I would have thought. Your comments about clubs throwing games is much more worrying. Exactly how did the bottom side beat Ironbank in the A2's, maybe you're right this has already started.

Mate I reckon that's pretty disrespectful to Birdwood's A2's, there's no way Ironbank would deliberately loose a game when they are locked in a battle for a top 3 spot.

From the feedback I've received from Country and Central clubs there's no way Central will be an 11 team comp next year. Birdwood or Lobethal will either need to cop it on the chin and play Country (like several clubs have done without complaint in the past) or make a move to the Barossa. I don't think this QC will be needed. I dare say there'll be a few arrogant loud mouths at the special meeting pushing for the 11 team comp but it will fall on deaf ears... thankfully.

I reckon this is a bit harsh on Sedan-Cambrai after just one year back and they would appear to have a plan for their footy club. Admittedly I haven't seen them play, but their scores have not been as dreadful as Cally's.
Besides a nine-team comp is just as, if not more fair, than an eight team comp as each team plays 16 games, each other twice and get a bye. I doubt there would only be 14 games (two rounds of seven) in an eight team comp.

Does anyone know the latest points in the relegation 'race'? Loby B's and Senior Colts won on the weekend, it is looking more and more likely Birdwood are heading down.

according to the prem tables on the sporting pulse website (and not taking draws into account), the bottom five are:

Bridgewater 58 pts
Ironbank 54 pts
Onkas 54 pts
Lobey 31 pts
Birdwood 26 pts

you can see what a big impact the bridgewater juniors are having on their points, even if their a grade has won two less games than ironbank and onkas.

not looking good for birdwood IMO. the effort from the lobey juniors will probably see them stay in central div.

Need to double check your calculations.

they are as follows

Ironbank 63 pts
Bridgewater 62.5 pts
Onkas 58 pts
Lobey 35.5 pts
Birdwood 28 pts

My bad....you are correct (forgot that B grade is 3 points, not 2). Also, not sure what the HFL will do re: the drawn games. The by-laws only mention points for a win. If the difference between Lobey and Birdwood is tight, then Lobey will want to have this clarified asap, as the points from their drawn b grade game may be vital.

I hear the agenda is out for the 'special general meeting' due next monday. Apparently there is just one topic and thats Lobethal wanting the constitution changed so more than 10 teams can compete in Central Div. If Lobethal get up in most grades over Birdwood on Saturday I wonder if they'll push the matter as I dare say they'll have more than enough points to remain in Central Div.
In the best interests of the competition I hope it remains a 10 team comp. Otherwise we will be introducing the Aldinga's and Hackham's to our league and there will be some massive scores kicked week in week out. Its funny the SFL are looking at ways to reducing the amount of teams because of the massive problems its caused and now we are considering increasing the amount of teams in our premier division. Guess it won't be that much of a premier div if the vote gets passed.

Saturdays game between the 2 clubs lobey and birdwood will be interesting - One would like to see lobey win simply so it can be the laughing stock of the league over the next 2 years again by having its arse kicked over and over and then we will all be able to say we told you so. Birdwood on the otherhand will take whatever the umps decision is, do the hard yards, win some games and be back in a year or 2 - all with the respect of most. Birdwood as a club work hard and teach their kids how to play in the right spirit and they are always good sports. On the other hand lobey.........feral as.

Not so sure Birdwood are just gonna cop it on the chin. I've heard the Birdwood President has been making a few recent phone calls to other clubs and will be doing everything they can to stay in Central Div. I'd say they've done their math and probably recognise even if they beat Loby in the A's they will still be hot favourite to be relegated.

Has Been you seem to be nothing more than a Lobey basher. There seems to have been no objectivity in any of your comments on this issue to date, and when you offer up comments with false facts its just embarrasing. I'd hate to think what it was that Lobey have done to upset you.

Let this be a warning to every other HFL club out there, don't get on the wrong side of Has Been. Your club will be bad mouthed from then on. You better just hope you and your club stay ahead of Lobey and anyone else you decide to bag over the next few years because some people just don't know how to be the bigger person and get over it.
