Yeah pretty bloody shattering but its a very close nit community and we will get a working bee going and get it all fixed quick enough.

Jezus! Blyth was smashed in a storm a couple of years ago too. They live in a wind tunnel up there?

This was at Snowtown, not Blyth, but I do believe both towns are in a channel susceptible to tornados in this region.

Quite a storm prone area. The winds can whip in off the plains. There was a massive one there in 2016 and also a couple of huge ones there in the mid 80’s when we lived there. One storm twisted 6 of the massive electricity pylons like spaghetti

Blyth wasn’t too bad this time

We got hail the size of golf balls but no roofs missing, fences broken etc

Snowtown got it all this time.

Byth/Snowtown has signed young gun Dylan Foulis from Orroroo. The Cats shaping up nicely with former Norwood Forward/Mid Jay Viney having an outstanding preseason and set to dominate.

What are peoples thoughts this week?

North Clare to beat BBH for mine. Personally I have North Clare in the top 3, have recruited well with Jackson OBrien my favourite for the mail medal, a forward line that will feature at times Prokopec and Dallas Hill they will comfortably bear BBH who will improve this year though.

BSR to beat the Southern Saints. I don't know a whole lot about these teams but we do know BSR are always consistent and will be once again around the mark.

RSMU to beat Min Man. RSMU have dropped off a tad imo and will be fighting for the fourth finals spot. Will beat Min Man my favourites for the wooden spoon.

Blyth on paper look to have improved their side from last year and imo are the premiership favs. Will start their year off with a comfortable win against South who will miss the finals comfortably.

My predicted minor round ladder.

1. Blyth
2. BSR
3. North Clare
4. Riverton

5. BBH
6. South Clare
7. Southern Saints
8. Min Man

Interesting game at Clare Oval yesterday

Just like I was I think the Blyth boys must have been watching South Clare’s warm up I’m which they fumbled and bumbled there way through. Personally I hadn’t seen a lesser skilled warm up and thought this could be a belting............I was wrong.

South jumped Blyth early and played a very disciplined and well drilled style of football. They managed to control tempo, short kicks around the arc and push big numbers inside Blyths forward 50 when in defence. At half time it looked an upset could be brewing.

Full credit to Blyth players and coaches there was no panic and they put on a clinic in the third quarter. Atkinson kicked a few and all their good players came to the fore. As we know their best is extremely good!

The fourth looked like it would be a formality but it was anything but Souyh threw the kitchen sink at Blyth but Blyths stars stood up in the key moments to hold on for the win.

Must say South were a lot better than I thought they would be. Very well coached, reckon they will be a tough team to beat but probably don’t have the class to win a heap of games. Will have a lot of honourable loses.

Whilst Blyth won’t be overly happy with their performance personally I think it’s a perfect way to start the year and will keep an ultra competitive mind frame for the guys who will now know there is no easy games.

Was a great day out

On paper this looks to be a fairly predictable round, in saying that potentially South Clare and Min Man will be a little bit better than I gave them credit for.

If there is going to be an upset it could be in the Burra vs Riverton game. Burra were good for a half against one of the genuine premiership threats. On the flip side Riverton were horrible for three quarters against my predicted wooden spooners. I’m going to back Burra at home in this one with a win by under three goals.

North Clare turned it on in the second half last week with Dallas Hill kicking a bag. He will have a field day again today and North Clare to win by ten goals.

Blyth make the trek out to the saints after a hard fought round one win. I don’t think Blyth will start as slow this week and will put in a commanding performance. Blyth by 6 goal

BSR are home to a slightly impressive South Clare. BSR are always strong and consistent and that will be no different in their first home game for the year. South to once again be plucky but BSR to win by 5 goals with to much talent.
