Todd Boughen agreeing to play on a part time basis will strengthen the Lions this season

Did they find the chequebook?

They only need another 15 players to be competitive again then. They were awful last year, coming from a long way back.

Macclesfield have had an encouraging start to the year despite a hiccup against Ironbank.
Noticed there was no players from Country in main squad for rep. football - Is that because none are deemed good enough or cos Country players are only eligible for the Country (div 2) rep side?

Half way point of the season and it's difficult to see the top 5 changing.

2 game gap (and 10%) between 5th placed Maccy and the Roosters in 6th. Hard to see Kangarilla mounting a challenge, while Meadows and TV are fighting it out for the spoon.

To add a couple of things to a great piece.
Club formed 1912
Wore purple/white certainly in 1923 and possibly earlier
1926 moved to chocolate and blue, 1947 first wore double blue
1st premiership was Torrens Valley B grade 1931 - 16-24 defeated Onkaparinga 8-13.
1948 merged with Chain of Ponds but continued on in double blue.
1971 lost grand final to Pleasant Valley 10-11 to 9-12 but certainly defeated Birdwood in 1972 - 14-9 to 11-17.

In case people are wondering some of that info straight from the old Torrens Valley Association minute books.

Was at Maccy v Gumeracha game a couple of weeks ago and was a good first half but credit to Gums it seemed like they didn't drop a mark or do much fumbling for the whole 3rd quarter and by 3 quarter time the game was as good as over.

Anyone got thoughts on this years final series and Maccy getting their 4th Grand Final in so many years...

SATURDAY - Ironbank Vs Gumeracha - at Kersbrook? was close the 2nd time around and looks like Gumeracha continue to improve in this 2nd half of the year. Gum's Midfield will be a class act but i'm not sure if they have the forwards to take advantage of this.. If Ironbank have all their full team on the park I cant see Gumeracha getting within 5 goals but if not it will be a close one.

SUNDAY - Bridgewater Vs Macclesfield - at Meadows? Bridgewater are a quick running team who love open space and the Meadows oval prob wont suit that too much at all... Havent seen too much of Maccy this year? are they a chance? I would say Bridgewater by 2 goals (as i just have not seen enough of both teams)

Maccy didnt get the grand final last year was at callington or in 2016 it was at birdwood. Its the biggest and best deck along with plenty of parking, kersbrok is also good but they are usually in the GF. Kangy is probably due as thats a great deck also but other then that the rest dont deserve to host it.

We should be strong favs saturday but gums have certainly improved amd have a star studded middle and with armstrong back there forward line is much better. Weakness is there bottom few drop away a bit.

Bridgy should be to good on sunday but maccy have shown more improvement this year and have beaten bridgey early in the year so they would be confident.
