The 3 and a half year drought ends for Torrens Valley. After a few ugly drubbings in recent weeks it was looking as though another winless season was on the cards, but they knocked off Birdwood 7.6 to 5.8 at Mt Pleasant for their first win since dropping back to Div 2 in 2018. Would have lost roughly 50 straight games before today.

There are some loyal locals that have stuck by the club during this period, I’m sure it’ll be a night to remember :drinkers:

Didn't see that coming after their result against Kersbrook the previous week.

And as per the Grand Final a couple of years back, Sam Hanna def Kersbrook again on the weekend.

Perhaps best ever Div 2 Hills or Hills Country has looked in terms of an even competition.

Top 3 sides all lost on Saturday.

Kangarilla v Meadows Prelim Final this weekend @ Kersbrook!

Any reason why they wouldn't change this to Maccy? Seems crazy to play it so far from both towns.

I guess if Kersbrook was already organised then could be a little tricky with catering etc. Plus then Maccy wouldve had to find a whole heap of volunteers at last minute which could be hard.

Pretty sure Kersbrook Oval was booked for both the Prelim and GF days, not just because of the playing surface, but their COVID safe plan for hosting finals. Think all the clubs knew of this beforehand.

Everyone needs to be agile in the current climate, changing it would make sense, Maccy held a final Saturday so has been ticked off.

As you said Kersbrook already have the GF locked in.

Actually Maccy aren't ticked off.

Only Kersbrook and Echunga have been hence why all the big crowded Hills Finals will be played at those COVID compliant ovals.

Might have been crowd capped? Limited numbers........only know that Echunga and Kersbrook have the approved plans for greater capacity. Apparently no other HFL clubs do.

Fair enough, just a opportunity to get a huge crowd if played locally. I would have gone, but will go elsewhere now.

Capped at 1000 at any one time. The security people counting people in and out at the gate.

Pretty sure that with the major finals (Pelim and GF) that the limit is much higher, and that ties in with the COVID management plan. Densities etc.

Be an interesting Grand Final rematch for the 2 blokes in question if Meadows take care of Kangarilla this week. One of which is prominent on Adelaide radio.

Was a good day at Adelaide Retaining Walls Solution Oval (aka Brook Park) Saturday for the hosting club as it notched up another A grade premiership. President Matt Coad and KFC volunteers did a great job as COVID ruling hosts, but unfortunately the matches were all fizzers. Birdwood too strong in the colts, Meadows over the more fancied Kangarilla in the twos, and thought Kersbrook's height proved too difficult for Meadows in the major dance. Kersbrooks 100th year of celebrations capped off to the perfect script.

Kersbrook's flag it's fifth for the coach Brett James, taking it one clear of Meadows tally of 4 during it's golden era at the start of the century. 15 years now Beefy been in charge for 8 Grand Finals and an appearance in the major round each season. Fair record for the Norwood great.

Congrats to Kersbrook's Nathan Pearce who won his fifth Mail Medal during the week. He'd have as many as the old boy surely now.

No idea about hills footy but why are Kersbrook always in div 2 if they keep winning premierships. Obviously there is some other criteria?

Lack of a full complement of junior teams which is a criteria for playing in Div 1. Although these days it seems that rule isn't as concrete as it used to be.
