Tahu has let Meadows down many times but I think they would still welcome him back if wanted to play there.

Coached Tantanoola to a premiership in Mid South East League in 06, he'll do well at Meadows.

No, that's certainly not the case and since I'm on the committee at the club I won't publicly divulge who was appointed until it appears in next week's Courier.

Eastern Rangers Flying High?? Blast from the past. Ashton Oval was a 'One Kick Full Forward Oval' and makes Meadows Oval look long.

Troy Kerwood was the last good footballer to come from Eastern Ranges, who ended up playing State Amateurs while at Athelstone.

And that was uphill. Downhill it was over the back, five miunte wait

From what can remember hearing, didn't he almost have an undeafeted Echunga on toast one year in GF before he went off injured?

Does anyone recall if Eastern Ranges ever had junior teams, and we're they any good?
I reckon this club added a certain uniqueness to Hills footy

Ashton and Lenswood merged to form Eastern Rangers, and they played their games at Ashton. Must have merged late 70's, earl 80's, but could be wrong

Well it was called a merger and Uraidla Redlegs changed to the Uraidla District Demons, both red and blue, and no more Div 2 footy at Ashton

One thinks I may be on to something.........Nah not really but I reckon it's a pretty good guess. Not the most liked bloke in the football community but even now he can still play.

From Memory, there was going to be an equal sort of spread of both clubs in the merger but when the Eastern Ranges side of the deal only contributed 1 player Uraidla decided to pretty much keep the status quo.
Perhaps '96 was their last year, thought it might have been '97.
Think Troy Kerwood went on to play A grade amatuers in Perth later on as well.

Yeah, i think it was early 80s. I believe that 1998 was the first year of the Uraidla 'Districts' as i was playing senior colts at the time.

It's a shame that Lenswood lost that football connection. Very very few Lenswood blokes were representing the ranges in their final few years, and i dont think many if any play at Uraidla these days. All the guys from this way now play for either Lobey or Onkas.
SAFC- 60 years...
StKFC- 58 years..

In the year of the Devil!!! I would have played against you then, in the Devils U17 side that Big O himself still describes as the best to have graced Hills Footy (I was the weak link!!!). Unfortunately, only 3 from that side still play at Mt Lofty.

You're right, Chop, but this F#@$wit - living amongst his pillow-biter mates in England knows Hills footy inside out and just HAS to have something to say!! Let's all bow down to $$$$ and listen to the great MLFC revival once more.
