Country footy history book - every club in SA!

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Just in answer to a few queries I have had with regard to qualification.

Games played
Although nothing set in stone yet, anyone with games tallies of 350 or more will be included. This can be for more than one club and can also include B Grade games. I am looking at having two seperate lists - those with exact totals and another for approximate totals - However both must include year of senior debut and year of retirement.

Goals in Grand Final
Any tallies of 7 or more wil be included but for A Grade grand finals only.

Career goals
As with games played may have to record in two categories of exact and approximate totals. Goals kicked in a career can also include A and B grade totals. Also need to know year of first senior game and retirement date. As with games played total goals can be for more than one club.

Umpires
Totals for A grade and B grade only, not junior.

All totals are for country football only which includes the Southern FL and Broken Hill FL. Amateur league or metropolitan leagues are not included.

Any further questions please feel free to PM me.
I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. I can't put it down.

Need some help with my new country football book with regard to photographs.

1. Accepting team photographs from any era.
2. Photo's of your clubs SANFL/AFL products
3. Photographs of your clubs honour board.

Photographs can be taken of existing photo's that hang in your football clubrooms.

All photo's can be emailed to me at bplines@bigpond.com

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY FOOTBALL DIGEST

My second book entitled 'South Australian Country Football Digest' has been completed and is in the hands of my publisher. I am estimating a release date in 6-8 weeks providing all goes well.

'The Digest' contains 380 pages of South Australian country football history, statistics, records and stories. The new book features over 100 team photographs, more than 50 player profiles and the histories of more than 150 South Australian country football leagues and associations.

While the country football theme of my first book 'Encyclopedia of South Australian Football Clubs' remains the 'South Australian Country Football Digest' will contain more on the individuals in country football from the players through to administrators and umpires.

The Digest is written in three sections -:

Section I -: Is a brief history of every association and league that has ever been formed. Each member club is mentioned with their colours and home ground together with the names of a few of their key players.

Section II -: Is a country football records section which features lists of most games played, most goals scored (career, year and match), most years as coach, captain and lists on many more topics. Long serving administrators at league and club level are listed and there is even a list on who has the largest football oval. There also club records for highest scores, most premierships, premiership droughts and interclub rivalries.

Section III -: Contains lists of every country bred footballer who had a career in SANFL or AFL/VFL football. Players are listed under the club they played for with games played, club of origin and years played.

Interspersed throughout the book are more than 50 profiles of footballers, coaches, adminstrators and umpires. Ken Eustice, Alf Skuse, Kevin McSporran and Jason McKenzie are just a sample of those profiled.

I dont have a price for the book yet as I am yet to receive a quote. So I will begin taking orders when I fix a price and give details on how to obtain a copy.

Thank you

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

I received the book in the mail today. Congratulations on an excellent publication - no doubt the years of research seem all worthwhile with this second book now out in 'footyland'!

The first book was a great addition to my library and now this book completes the story of SA country football. For the uninitiated, this book covers the country footy leagues from over the years, detailed to the extent of each club, their colours and the seasons of affiliation with the league.

If only there was enough detail kept by regional WA newspapers and leagues to have a similar publication on footy over here. A book was done recently but it was not as comprehensive as this. For example, one or two WA country leagues haven't kept complete details (ladders, Grand Final scores and/or Fairest & Best medallists) from seasons in the 1990s as leagues transition from committee to committee!

Once again Peter, congratulations on a great job well done!

Yeah ive lived in Narrogin and the Adelaide Hills and there is a huge difference in the amount of coverage the local papers give to the local footy league
