I have compiled an update that can be added to the 'South Australian Country Football Digest'. The two page update is in PDF format and contains new records and achievements from the 2012 season. Contact me by email (bplines@bigpond.com) if you would like me to send you an update which you can print off an add to your copy of the 'South Australian Country Football Digest'. Anyone purchasing a copy of the 'Digest' from now on will receive a laminated copy of the update to go with their book.

Hopefully I will have a 2013 update soon after the end of the season.

'The History of Football in the East Murray District' is now available and can be ordered by contacting me at bplines@bigpond.com or by phone 0438 819 391.

'The History of Football in the East Murray District' is the 235 page story of one hundred years of football in the East Murray area. The book tells of the early days of the East Murray and Murray Valley associations, the teams that played in those associations and of the players of the time. There is a big focus on the East Murray Football League until it's demise in 1970 and from there continues with the fortunes of the East Murray and Wunkar Football Clubs to the present day.

As well as telling the story of a century of football in the district, there are hundreds of team and individual photographs as well as all the facts and figures dating back to the early1920s.

I will be selling the book for $30.00 a copy plus $10.00 for postage.

I will be selling the book at the Riverland Field days at Barmera on the 19th and 20th September in the Marquees Pavillion. I look forward to seeing current and former East Murray locals to come and have a chat and personally find out more about the book.

Regards

Peter Lines

I have just purchased Peter Lines new book 'The History of Football in the East Murray District' after watching his interview with Peter Goers on You Tube.

Although I have collected his first two books on country football I wasn’t really looking to buy this new book as I have no particular interest in East Murray football. However the You Tube video aroused my interest and as it only cost me $30 plus postage I thought why not.

I haven’t been able to put the book down, it is an excellent account of a century of football played in a district I had previously no knowledge of. Surprisingly I found there were people I knew in the book and others I had heard of. There were many great stories in the book, some made me laugh and others I must confess almost brought me to tears.

Peter Lines is to be congratulated on this outstanding book. He has progressed from football historian to football historian and story teller. The photographs in the book are excellent and as per usual his facts and figures are right on the money.

I have no hesitation in recommending this book to all country football followers as it is a well written and captivating account of not only football in the East Murray district but of country football in general.

Yeah but it is heavily promoting this book, thought its author might know more.

I have been asked to contribute but only the league I am involved with. It is still evolving but it is intended to be an interactive magazine. At the moment you can click on icons for club web pages, FB pages and results through sporting pulse. They are also inviting weekly contributions of photos, videos and match reports. Unfortunately I don't think they are getting the feedback that they had hoped. They have been able to keep it free through sponsorship and Advertising.

It would always need to be free.
