Back to the Eighties when AFL (or VFL) Teams began looking overseas for athletic types like Jim Stynes and i think Kevin Sheedy was even looking for Africans or something, but since then and the success and durability of Jim Stynes the mindset has been for players to be able to be the first player there and once they've got it barely have the skill to use it.

Evidently Willaston Pumped United last weekend in a trial match, and without some of the donnys recruits!

i know you cant read too much into trial match form, but they would/should have been reasonably competitive.
Does anyone know about this? Was anyone there?

Is Willy Serle a Donnybrook now. heard that the great man signed up with Willaston. he could be a player to watch in that league if he has?

A few Weeks back Hayden Walker got knocked the **** out by Elijah 'Noodles' Ware at the Grand in Adelaide. From all accounts Hayden started it and was tying to be a macho man so Noodles just gave him a jab and sat him on his arse.

Hayden is a big unit but surely people agree he is a meat head? Can he play the game?

Can ppl tell me if Cockatoo-collins played the trial for United???

Big "whiskey" can play alright, he played a few league games for the Eagles, But that is the funniest story i have heard in ages!!! i really don't know if he's the tough guy he pretends to be.

Noodles!!! that's great...shows you that no matter how hard you think you are, you can still get dropped!

now i'm living up the riverland, i went to Barmera and watched a bit of the game. Thought I might have bumped into a Balaklava people but didnt see anyone I knew. From what I could hear, Barmera were winning pretty easily. Dont know how long Balaklava have been training. Barmera looked a lot fitter and a lot quicker

I think Jake Levy played. There was a small guy running around with white Centrals shorts and a Balaklava guernsey so I suppose that was him. Looked a class act.

Dont know how long Balaklava have been training. Barmera looked a lot fitter and a lot quicker.

BTW that was me at Loxton last week Dogwatcher.

Don't quote me on this but i think Balak Started a fair bit later than most clubs. Probably not the best preparation for playing the GF rematch first up.

Yeah apparently the ruckman united has recruited is an ex cairns nbl player. Im told he is very agile and good over head but his skills struggle. But hey if he can tap ruck well and take big grabs he ll be very handy. Mallala got over Berri pretty comfortably although berri had a few less players to play out the six qtrs. Pies have Nuri this week in two seperate games so that will tell us where they re at

The Ruckman's name for United is Paul Vandenberg, great basketballer.
If he doesnt play in the ruck he will be totally lost (might aswell rest him at CHF then), needs work on his kicking but can grab the ball no problems.

yeah your mail on the big fella sounds pretty good he played nbl for carins. his run up for ruck taps would be 3 or 4 steps big leap tho. good hands foot skills were'nt the best but the united smalls would always get around him a take the handball of the big fella sides will be on to that after 5mins but hey he can ruck tho. che c/c will fit in well there they had a few out against gawlar willy be a huge loss "IF" he goe's but they did have some really good play's along the way i think they'll be ok .

and united's so called runner should have walker across his back not runner i hardly seen him brake in to a jog ! come on knoxy
