T93-94... Anything on Recruits for GC's???

skipper wrote:Hear that Wallaroo have been recruiting hard at the Barossa Bulldogs. They are after 4 players, story is Sharpe, Chamberlain and one of the Stelzers have signed up. Apparently Renmark do not have the brass to make an attractive offer the Stelzers.

Can anyone shed any light on this quote either (taken from another thread).
Be interesting if they lose a few at Barossa, will they fall back to a club that is at the bottom of the tree, a fall that Freeling felt this year after 3 GF's... Sounding similar!

I dont think you can recruit without a coach
as most players first question (other than how much do I get paid)
is who is the coach

I wouldve thought backward move for him
Go up into Div 2 with no expectations against some experienced coaches
might help him in the long run land a job at a League club
Dont know what his ambitions are though
If he comes to GC then you would hope that he would also bring some quality with him

Only problem for Payney could be Whacka getting the job
not sure how many from Salisbury North would follow him

Also are Eastern Park holding off waiting for the outcome of Payney getting the GC job or are they likely to put pressure on him to make a decision?

So if Payne has applied for both and EP give him the nod before he hears from Centrals,

What will be the outcome???

Considering GC's applications close this Friday, I would assume that both parties will wait for the outcome of the GC job, especially if EP want to keep Payne!

Yeah not sure about that one to be honest. Not sure how close GC are to choosing. Dont think Payney will put the pressure on them to give him an answer so I assume it will be a matter of waiting and seeing.

T93-94 couldnt actually tell you, but apparently president was overheard saying they wanted to finish interviews by either tonight or tomorrow.

So provided no late applications, decision could be announced on Friday!

With still a couple of Coaching positions up for grabs and the player movements bound to happen, it would be great to get everyones thought on the season ahead.

Perhaps Ladder predictions, Schluter Medalist, rumours of player movements anf any other interesting facts (or fictions  )

Lads, LC started this thread to discuss player player movements, predicitons for 2009 etc... not to discuss tax!! lets get this back on track, there is already another BLG thread that discusses many things unrelated to football.

There is a strong rumour that the Baker boys and Norsworthy will be heading the Riverland for some big coin next year... if this is true the Donnybrooks are sinking at a rapid rate, i wonder what Seelander will be able to do to get them afloat...???

Texas do you know of any player movements from South Gawler and can you confirm Anthony Johnston is leaving?

B & S - I have heard on the grapevine that Anthony Johnstone is no longer up to the rigours of the BLG comp... his body is on the way out... apparently could be going to Virginia to play with his brothers...

Also - geradis has been told he is no longer required... much to his shagrin...

So I guess that leaves a couple of spots for some decent players... I know one has been filled, as alluded to earlier in this forum, and I have some strong rumours that they are looking north for to fill the next position....
Tim Clarke was the #1 player in the AFL

I think they should also concentrate on keeping their existing players....
From what I hear a few Senior (and better) players have been approached by other clubs.
They would have a good base to build on with recruits, but losing these few could put them back to square one!

Interesting on Johnston and Geradis, have been matchwinners for South on OCCASSIONS, more than some of the slow overweight players taking up a senior positions

Gerardis would be a bad egg for South, they dont need that. Its Gerardis' off field antics like organising footy trips and sticky fingers that he loses respect. Have heard some bad reports about him!
What about some of their juniors that used to play, Matty Ward, Ryan Officer, Damien Ellis or Vanderloo all gun players, would they look for them to return to The Den?
