20/20 Footy Competition - Adelaide Hills

As mentioned in the Hills Central thread there is a 20/20 Football Competition being held in the Hills.

For anyone who doesn't know the rules it consists of 2 x 20 minutes halves with a short break in between.

Teams consist of 25 players with 16 from each team allowed on the field.

Other than that standard rules apply.

Games are Friday nights with 3 games per night at 7, 8 and 9.

Teams competing are Mt Lofty, Mt Barker, Hahndorf, Echunga, Tailem Bend and Plympton.

Round 1 is the 18th of Feb at Echunga Oval
Round 2 is the 25th of Feb at Hahndorf Oval
Round 3 is the 4th of March at Heathfield Oval
Finals (5 v 6, 3 v 4, 1 v 2) on the 11th of March at Hahndorf Oval

Admission is 4 dollars, not too bad for 3 games of footy. Bar and BBQ should be available at all clubs (definitely at Hahndorf).

Hope to see you all there.

Hahndorf have purchased a special roll on fake turf which wil come off after the games. Played on it last year at McLaren Vale and it was fine. The other clubs I have no idea but i assume they have worked something out.

I believe the other clubs may be borrowing the mat off Hahndorf

$4 to go watch a couple of trial games, what a load of BS.

Home clubs have to pay for umpires and balls. Not that cheap either.

So does every other club that hosts a trial game

The home clubs should be be happy for the extra revenue on canteen, bbq & bar they will receive, as I believe more people will attend these games then your general trial matches.

Yeah coz most trial games require 3 new balls and 6 A Grade umpires.

You not paying for any balls or umpires when you play at the other grounds though are you......

Didn't realise you were playing for sheep stations. I know $4 isn't a lot, but it's the principle.

1 new ball for all 3 games.
3 umpries - each doing 2 games each.

FFS it's only a combined 2 hours of footy

Like I said, home side pays. 3 games per night, 2 umpires per game. 1 ball per game. That equals 6 umpires and 3 balls. Now the same umpires may do all three games (unlikely I think), but you still have to pay them per game.

A new ball each game  they'll barely be kicked in after 2x20 mins especially this time of year. Surely you could make plenty over the bar, canteen and bbq to cover the umps and earn a profit.

Fair enough on the balls more than likely, but seriously, its $4.

I'm lost. Is this a football thread or the line up to get into centrelink?

How did this comp originate anyway?

Seems an odd selection of teams (apart from the Hills team)

Did the Wunkar carnival fall over this year?

Plympton are in because their new coach is the ex-lofty B grade coach. Reckon they will be in for a tough 40 mins if the hills teams put up decent sides.

*Tailem Bend vs Mt Barker 9:00pm

Week 2 Fixture Venue Hahndorf Oval
Feb 25 2011 *Plympton vs Echunga 7:00pm
*Hahndorf vs Mt Barker 8:00pm
*Mt Lofty vs Tailem Bend 9:00pm

Week 3 Fixture Venue Heathfield Oval
March 4 *Tailem Bend vs Hahndorf 7:00pm
*Mt Lofty vs Plympton 8:00pm
*Mt Barker vs Echunga 9:00pm

Finals Series
March 11 Fixture Venue Hahndorf Oval
*Fifth vs Sixth Hahndorf Oval 7:00pm
*Third vs Fourth 8:00pm
*First vs Second 9:00pm

Teams to consist of 25 players with maximum of 16 permitted on the field at any one time (play without wing positions).
Seems like a pretty good selection of matches, looking forward to see some of the Hills clubs lists for 2011 while also checking out the standard of Plympton and Tailem Bend. Bring on those balmy nights having a few coldies watching the footy!
And apparently all money raised on the night will go to the hosting clubs (although $4 is way toooo dear for some people) while a bit of prizemoney is offer for the finals.

If i got asked to pay i would tell the gate people to get F'd.
Its grassroots footy. SANFL trial games are free entry.
