Went and had a look at the c grade finals first time seen a footy game at milang and a hills c grade game for that matter, thoroughly enjoyed it. Great oval and good crowd with lots of cheering for the local milang boys. The standard was surprisingly okay not too many overweight players running around either.
Mt lofty got up over ironbank by 2-3 goals in a tight contest. Was surprised to see the 2002 mail medalist from strath michael cook running around still under the packs dishing the hands out, he kicked the sealing goal 40 metre left foot hack on the flank dribbled thru for a goal.
In the other game Milang v Uraidla, uraidla were up by a goal at 3 qtr time. Were up by 3 goals half way thru the last when i left think uraidla still would have won? Milang just missed 1 or 2 more fit runners around the ground. Also got crucified by a soft 2 goal play after pushing a player in the back after he kicked a goal, got a second shot in the 2nd qtr. Milang can hold there heads high had a real crack. Hopefully they get even better with more players next year!

Cook getting under packs... surely not the same one. Cook has always been a receiver, that's how he won his mail medal because he had good onballers dishing it out to him. Not knocking the guy but even he'll tell you he's never been an in and under player.

Blackwood defeated Mt. Lofty last night in the C grade infront of one of the biggest crowds seen at BFC. The game was above C grade standard of footy with the atmosphere to suit. Well done to the lofty boys for the way they played the game. Going by last night, this competition is alive and deserves a lot of credit! Plenty of handy players on the ground from both teams.
Final scores were roughly: 7-12 to 5-2

That last round match from 2010 (Mt.B vs Milang) was one of the best games of footy I've played in. Great spirit. Mt.B were short on numbers so Milang gave us a player to help out and he ended up kicking the winning goal for us.

Yep, I remember it well. It was a great example of the 'C' Grade spirit in that one of the lowest-ranked clubs in the HFL lent one of their players to the powerful Barkeroos to ensure everyone got a game on the day. Great stuff!! Let's hope 'C' Grade continues in 2012 and nothing changes. It's an excellent comp with a surprisingly high standard. We won't be lending players to anyone at the business end of next season though 8)

Good numbers on the track at Milang with many new faces. How are other clubs faring and will there be any new C Grade sides this year?

Mt Lofty was canvassing for players, looks like they might have a team. Could be their best chance of some points...

Is the Hills C' Grade a Sunday competition and if players are missing out in playing for their club in the A's or B's and still want a game can they play for another club in the C'Grade comp perhaps under permit?

Mostly Sundays with one Friday night game and two on Saturday evenings. Not sure of the answer to your question Champ but I doubt it. You can't be on the Senior player list at more than one club at a time. Interesting question.

P***poor you didn't get a hit-out last week Banker, apparently Onkas don't like Friday night footy. Rest assured you'll get a run on Sunday. 30+ on our track tonight. C Grade is alive and well. Cheers to all clubs who make the effort to ensure this comp works. Probably the HFL's best-kept secret, goodness knows why. Game on Banker!

Milang 9-6 over Ironbank 5-2 today. Played in great spirit before a big crowd. Needless to say, the Panthers are pretty chuffed. :D First quarter fairly untidy for both sides, then very competitive with more than a sniff of sheep station. C Grade footy is alive and well, and I believe there was just one pasty left at the end of the day. :D

Nearly froze 'em off at Uraidla today, godforsaken wet place it is. Uri's by 10 points over Milang in a very tenacious contest. Panthers almost non-existent in the first quarter which cost us the game. Heartening to see so much support for the C Grade comp.
