Good atmosphere in Pantherland and a full side ready for Ironbank at Blackwood Friday night. After a Mt B forfeit, a bye and then Easter it's been a long pre-season waiting for the first hit-out. Should be a great contest.

Ironbank over Milang by 4 goals in a spirited contest with only a kick the difference until 1/2 time. The Panthers will win a few this year. Great to see such good standard games under lights with plenty of support behind the fence and an excellent social atmosphere. C Grade is alive and well in the Hills.

Always a good game against Milang, always love playing you blokes.

Pity the Umpire didn't show the game the respect it deserved. Poor example from the league's umpire coach, 6 cans under the belt before the game had started and sledged blokes all through the game........................

Good night of footy though

He did it all through the Blackwood vs. Uraidla game last week even having a go at some of the crowd who didn't like one of his decisions.... He also did it in all the games he umpired when I played in last year too. He has a habit off doing it. It does get very annoying as a player when he's commentates during the game….

and yes it was a good night of footy, with Blackwood getting up by 40 points against Mt. Lofty also.

Bit precious in regards to Taylor isnt it? The bloke has a 6 pack for breakfast, I'd still prefer to have him umpire than some of the other blokes out there.

You telling me there are not blokes playing C grade on a friday night who have not had a few cans, I know damn well many blokes do it.

Seems to me the bloke tries to have a bit of fun whilst he is out there, as why most people are involved in C grade.

I am all for having fun and a few light hearted sledges, as long as the actual game gets the respect it deserves.

In other news, word on the street in Mt Barker are pulling out of the C grade comp. Is there any truth to this rumour?

If that's true, the other clubs hadn't been told up until yesterday. Is there trouble in the camp there Jailbird? Been looking forward to playing you boys again.

They've forfieted against us (Blackwood) tomorrow night, so I would think that it is true, that they have dropped out of the comp. how does a club in a town of 10,000+ people not be able to have a c-grade team?

There's trouble in the camp at Mt. B Bertie B. Forfeiture is pathetic given the size of the town and the fact they nominated. Sad for their boys who wanted to play and sadder for the clubs looking forward to the hit-out against them.

On another note, Hahndorf over Milang by 8 goals. A diabolical umpiring display, did not protect the ball player at any time, he seemed confused, inconsistent and unpredictable. Game stopped at the 18 minute mark of the final quarter when trainers would not move an unconscious Milang youngster until an ambulance arrived. Confusing accounts re the circumstances but the incident was within the play.

Does anyone know how the young lad is? It was a sickening collision and stopping/ending the game was a good decision. Full compliments to the Milang trainers for a situation well handled.

The young lad is apparently okay in terms of not receiving a serious injury. He'll be very sore for a while though. There are some gutsy kids playing C Grade with players twice (even thrice!) their age and size. Good that the majority of players and umpires respect this. Always room for improvement.

Gary Vivian coaches the Panthers. In his second year and does a great job, very respected. Callum is playing at Meadows, currently out injured.

Mt Barker have officially pulled the pin on C grade. New revised program coming out this week I'm told.

Varying accounts of what happened. There were around 6 players contesting the fall of the ball on the boxes wing, after which the young lad lay flat on his face and didn't get up. He is a slight lad and Hahndorf are a big and heavy side. Apparently he was somehow hit in the head by a shoulder, elbow or other. Some said he collided with a team-mate. The player himself said he thinks he collided with the shoulder of a large Hahndorf player, but is unsure. There didn't seem to be any protests from spectators about the incident. No doubt the matter will be duly revisited at training. I'd be interested to hear any accounts from anyone.

That is disgraceful and inexcusable. Very sad if club politics have infiltrated their C Grade. It's totally disrespectful of other clubs which make a serious effort to honor their nomination and be competitive. The Mount Barker Council needs to employ a good Social Sciences graduate to find out why such a huge town has a problem fielding 66 senior footballers on week-ends.

Yep, big culture problem at Mt Barker. Anyway, the new C grade program is on sportingpulse mate. From I'm told there will be a final five as the minor round now finishes 2 weeks earlier. So only one team will miss out on finals.
