Geez, makes it hard for Eastern Zone. Wouldn't think there would be too many players in the team from Mallee League, so basically the team is picked from two leagues.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Good squad put up by Eastern there! Will be a tough side to beat for sure.

Havent got full info on Southern but it will be a competitive unit from the names ive heard that are heading up. Always a high standard of football at these championships and a big carrot on the end of them with a trip to Wagga for the Australian Country Championships!

Good luck to all involved!

Depends if you're referring to Adelaide as being the centre point or not. Geographically it is.

This Eastern Zone team is a less than half strength as players have the carnival injury and are unavailable.
Bet ya they all play in the next home and away game their clubs are involved in.
Rule should be not available due to injury you miss your clubs next game.
CFB rules say if you make yourself unavailable ya get 2 games and rather than say will not play the injury issue is used and this is why the carnival is a joke as it does not showcase the best country players.
If all clubs where like Tanunda FC and supported the concept and actively encouraged their players to play then it may be different but lets go back to playing rep footy on June longweek-end and create some rivalry between Association/Leagues that fits in with netball carnival in June.
Waste of time and money having these championships and to have Southern in competition is a joke as they are metro clubs and should join up with SAAFL.How is Brighton etc a country club.
Anyway it gives me a week-end off to get the garden in shape as would not waste the petrol money to go and see a second rate comp they are having at Berri.

Agree mate, Tanunda have always seemed to support the idea. You will find that almost 100% of players will play the next week, but time will tell.

When you have finished your garden, Sammy. Can you come do mine, cheers mate!

I'd rather see this carnival replaced by the winners of each zones carnival, and they then play in the championship and crown an indiviual league as the states best. If we have six good leagues playing in the carnival, surely we could still pick a really good squad for SA from the 6 'best' country leagues. There are great country footballers, and regardless of if there league played in the carnival, they are still considered for the country side. For example when Merrett from South East was picked in 08 (I think), because he was regarded as one of the best in the country at the time, though he missed most of the carnival.
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

Only one player from Adelaide Plains? There would have to be a story there for a bright young journalist surely?

I reckon if you forced these "guns" to play it would become a second rate comp. every player that has been chosen to play obviously has talent and they are excited to play. I'd rather see a carnival of blokes busting there arse and enjoying it rather than see a blokes forced to play who couldn't care if they won or lost.

I think it was great how the Eastern selectors informed him off his selection putting a note under the windscreen wipers of his car ;)
