Your local league. Is it well managed or not?

Postby Sky Pilot » Sun Sep 23, 2012 6:50 pm

Some country leagues are in top shape and just keep on being successful. Northern Areas and North Eastern are in terrific shape with all clubs financial and well managed. Crowds are more than acceptable on any given Saturday. Northern's GF last week attracted almost 7000 fans. Netball plays a big part in this obviously. So, how does your League go? Any advice you would like to give the administrators? Let's hear it

How well is the league managed...

Well PLFL has made the NATIONAL news this year for:
Umpires strike
(Unfounded) Drug payment accusations
One club crying discrimination against the League...

I would hazard a no to smooth running.

The problem with country leagues is that often they dont get proactive, they stick to things simply because they have done them like that in the past. Whether they are successful all comes down to the volunteers who make it all happen, not always the admin.

A successful league can also be jusged by the competitiveness of the league and strength of the comp. A good strong comp leads to people popping in to watch which creates atmosphere etc.

Just to lighten the mood a little... ;)

BL&GFA is well managed, relatively strong junior set-up across the board (weak in some regions as is the case anywhere) and little to no issues (when *compared to other leagues statewide).

So if you're looking to come play/watch/umpire, come to the BL&GFA! :D

KNTFL seems pretty well run. Has remained a strong league on a whole, a couple of teams (us and Kingston) struggling but that's about it.

Spencer gulf football league is unfortunately still caught in the 80'S. The board is not open 2 suggestion and is ignorant about its faillings. Though we do have a competitive league more needs to be done, 2 promote juniors. Its easy 2 critize, but not been able 2 look at other leagues for what works there is very disappointing.
