Big changes coming to country footy next year with the CFB capping player payments. Hearing the max you can pay a player is the SANFL league minimum.

How are they going to control the money in the brown paper bag in the carpark.

Agree - it will hard to police but if you get caught i'm hearing the following - No premiership points for 2 years - Game day points will be zero, no recruits - Huge fines. The president of each club will have to sign a stat dec to say that there is no under the table payments - if found guilty there will be legal action.

The latest is that all contracts will need to be submitted to CFL for approval. Statutory Declarations to be signed by each contracted player at the end of each season to confirm they have not received any benefits from any source as a result of playing football outside of what was stated in the contract and will be ineligible to register for the following season until received by the CFL.

$10,000 maximum fine to club
24 months maximum suspension to player
Loss of Premiership points for all games where breach player plays.

The CFL will be employing investigators to trawl social media for leads to breaches and players will be able to be summoned mid-season with a "Please Explain Notice". Clubs will be able to notify CFL when they make offers to players at the maximum level but the player signs elsewhere, each of these instances to be investigated with Statutory Declarations required from player and club officials indicating the terms of the agreement.
All players signing to country clubs direct from the SANFL will be automatically investigated.

Sounds like it is just going to be a headache to manage by volunteers at club level.

As opposed to signing with an amateur league club which would warrant no investigation?

This is being pushed by the SANFL following complaints from their clubs about poaching

goolwa over the bays by about 4 goals. very scrappy affair in the wet with goolwa converting their chances a better than the bays.

side note, how does brett ebert not topple over when he runs. massive mellon. but geez he still looks fit

Strange game at the bay. First 2 quarters went for 33 and 32 minutes which is a ridiculous amount of time considering there was limited goals kicked. Time keepers might have been sleeping. With the breeze we had, it was lucky those 2 were similar in time otherwise there would have been controversy. Then we had a player count 15 seconds in to the last. Bays had snuck the old loose man in the forward line.

Ebo's head is huge but there could be a contender at the club to beat him. He's called for a head measure because he's copping a lot of stick about it

Are the footy gods shining upon Pongy / sellicks at the momment

Wendelborn reported for a clear head but and red carded
Umpire has night shift can't attend tribunal so we will do it next week, allowing said player to play country championships
Tribunal comes around!!! No umpire shows up case is thrown out
Player plays and kicks 4 goals to help knock over goolwa!
Is this farcical, yes legitimate forgetfulness or something else
Smells very fishy!
Avoided 7-8 weeks on the side lines
premierships is what it is all about

7-8 weeks....turn it up. Wendles has never been reported - he would have got 2 weeks for being stupid - who headbutts (If you can call it that) someone wearing a helmet?? Also, are you saying that the Compass player didn't give a little one back? Have you seen the footage? We can't help it if the ump doesn't show up so i'm not sure what smelling? By the way he did play well ;)

Turn it up shows you obviously haven't seen the footage WIW! Helmet there wasn't a helmet involved
The compass player left the field
I know someone at the club has the footage! I'll ask around see if I can get it put up on here so everyone can be the judge!
Still 7-8 weeks only cowards head but! And it was a full blown head but!

Moving on, love some feedback on the Yank v Willunga game. Either Yank have improved or Willunga have slipped.
It's also great to see Yank putting a lot of faith in some of the juniors. Some really good kids there and if they stay will be a big advantage in years to come.

Compass have lost 7 games by under 22 points. If they'd snagged a couple of those they'd be in the 5. Look to be solid in defence with just one blow out against Mclaren in R3. Goolwa, Yank and Victor next 3 games.
