Re points, interesting stats
In the 2018 GF, LC played 10 of 13 available (including -1 for a colt) and Mclaren played 16 of 17 available.
In the Prelim, Compass used 7/9, Mclaren 16/17
2nd semi, Compass 7/9 LC 5/13 (2 colts)
1st semi Mclaren 16/17, Willunga 10/11

Round 18 points used:
Goolwa: 5/11
Bays: -1/11 (1 colt)
Mclaren: 12/17
Creek: 10/13 (1 colt)
Pongy: 15/15
Will: 7/11 (1 colt)
Strath: 8/11
Yank: 0/15
VH: 13/13 (1 colt)
Compass: 5/9 (1 colt)

Mclaren played 6 players with points in the GF. So that same team in 2019 would be 10 points.
Last 3 years they won 1, 2 and 12.5 games so should have 15 points available in 2019. Ie room for a couple of 3 pointers with a colt playing.

WOW !! that is a fair fisting to former club...or were they all juniors at McLaren

Yes that is a fair fisting.
Where do these new age coaches get of raping and pillaging former clubs.
Iljcesen did it to Morphett Vale. Bring theses players into your club and this is how they repay you.
There used to a unwritten law that coaches didn't do that.
Shame on Gianni and Iljcesen if thay think this is alright. Very selfish.

How many points do the GSFL teams get?
Some of these clubs have 8/9 recruits.
is there a salary cap?

McLaren’s ‘ins’

Codey Ellison - McLaren Junior 0 points
Sam Whitbread - McLaren Junior 0 points
Eyre White - only managed to play reserves at Reynella
Shaun Halliday - only managed to play reserves at Reynella
Billy Gregory - Morphett Vale Junior
Chris Bradwell - second year on McLarens list so would be a 2 point player I believe
Max Wakefield - unsure of his background

McLaren have averaged five minor round wins over the past three seasons.

I expect their Reserves to be very good this year with some of these ‘ins’ to play to spend some time in the Magoos.

Eyre White? He played for McLaren in 2018. Inc the GF. 1 pointer

Wakefield sounds like a very handy pickup. Kicked 37 goals for Kingston last year (inc 8 in one game) and 7 times in best. No mention of him being a junior so should be 3 pts.

White played 6 x A grade for Reynella in 2017. How was he only 1 point?

I think you need to play 20 A grade games or something like that first.

Having read these posts it paints a clearer picture re:McLarens recruiting. If the quoted numbers above are right regarding what McLaren used in finals points wise and the fact that they have 15 this year then they actually haven’t recruited that much.

Sam Whitbread I know is held in high regard at South and WILL NOT play at McLaren this year so I assume the Eagles know this and it’s just a P.R. thing signing him back at club.

According to earlier post HALLIDAY is only a B Grader so will not play As, GREGORY according to Sporting Pulse als played more Bs than As so may not get in the side.

WAKEFIELD looks a recruit albeit not much known about him so unsure how good.

ELLISON is a recruit and if indeed he did pay juniors and is 0 points then smart move.

So really only picked up 2 guys and as above mentioned may have lost a couple so what’s all the fanfare about. Victor look to have included a hell of a lot more talent and we should be talking about them or Strath.

And sorry to add to all that if is as said true and WHITE did play Bs at Reynella and is now a good A grader then kudos to the club on this recruiting and turning him around. So they haven’t really raped REYNELLA have they??

Only really stole BRADWELL who wasn’t that good last year, because Ellison and Whitbread are McLaren Juniors and White, Gregory and Halliday were B graders. Looks a lot different knowing that

Tend to agree Luke. Looks like intelligent recruiting and getting past juniors back. Will strengthen their list all round and given then were GFists will be a force in both grades again.

Nearly all sides look to have gained more than lost (with the exception of Bays maybe). Goolwa and yank will be big improvers is it should be a very interesting season ahead.

Just saw on clearances page Horrocks, Will Hopper and Kleinig all lodged clearances to Hills League!!! Anyone know where?

What is going on at Enc Bay. If these three leave on top of Sharples, Barnes, Davis then Enc Bay will need to call on the Colts that came across from Yank
