Not sure being told to F##K OFF is a day in the sun but I guess each to their own and to be standing in front of a group of your supporters including children using foul language is to be congratulated JJ. What I witnessed was nothing short of disgraceful, I just wonder how you two speak in front of the females in your family

Just to clarify beer tent, just saying good on him for pulling his clubs own supporters into line IF they were out of order, but certainly dont condone the use of fowl language in front of children or other Adult supporters for that matter which by your account he was guilty of.

Not sure why Langhorne Creek got 2 years in a row in 2011 and 2012 or did they get some compensation for losing finals games due to the Bremer flooding? Mt Compass has only ever hosted 1 GSFL Grand Final which was 2008 between Willunga and Strath (Willunga won by 11 goals). There will be a limit to how many cars will fit and not sure where cars will park outside the ground but the venue is set up to provide a great atmosphere with a big crowd. Getting out of Compass post game will be the most challenging part.

The finals would have been swapped if someone was to get a home game (final). That has since changed as it was difficult for clubs to organise catering, etc at short notice. Now it’s just bad luck (or good) and the final stays as programmed. Works well in my opinion. Some may gripe about oval conditions and parking but at least it’s shared about for all to get something out of it.

Looking at the results in the GF up there it seems a home final isn't an advantage anyway !

Results of A Grade teams that have hosted the Grand Final

2011 Langhorne Creek WON v Willunga by 56 points

2012 Yankalilla LOST v Langhorne Creek by 21 points

2013 Willunga LOST v Encounter Bay by 12 points

2016 Encounter Bay LOST v Mount Compass by 22 points

Fair team Limb without being totally familiar will all the names but guessing they've all had pretty handy years.
Im sure the league would be happy if they got that team on the park for the Rep game against Southern

Back to the Finals and the race is now down to 3

Without seeing either Final on the weekend , im just assuming going on the scores that both were thrillers going down to the wire.

Creeks causing a mini upset by rolling the Flag Favorites Compass and redeeming themselves for their inglorious performance against them in round 16 when they surrendered top spot to them. Creeks with the aid of the wind it looks like built a 7 goal lead by 3/4 time which one would assume would be enough. But Compass got their act together on the last term as they reportedly started to pull the marks in and kicked 7 goals straight to get within 2 points of the Hawks who finally responded with the last goal of the match to propel themselves into the GF.
For Compass it was their 1st loss since losing to the Creeks in Round 7 and they now need to refocus on getting the job done against McLaren next week or miss out on a Home Grand Final which most thought would be a formality.

McLaren having risen from 3 wooden spoons to finish 3rd on the ladder would have been bitterly disappointed if they had gone out in straight sets after losing the Qualifying final to the Creeks but they rebounded on Sunday in an epic battle against the Demons to prevail by 2 points to have a crack at the Bulldogs for a shot at the Creeks in the GF.

Prelim Final
Mount Compass v McLaren at McLaren
McLaren have the home ground advantage which must be worth a goal or 2 but will that be enough to get over a seething Bulldog unit desperate for a shot at a home ground threepeat Premiership win?
Tip - Mt Compass by 19 points but having said that im 1 from 4 in finals tips so far so...............

Suggested Flag Odds
Mt Compass $1.95
L Creek $2.05
McLaren $9.00

Compass still slight faves for mine as theyre expected to beat McLaren and then have the Big advantage of the home ground in the GF

Was watching some of the Creek/McLaren final the other day, is that 15yo Matty Roberts playing for Creek's A grade? I know he is a hell of a player but a fair effort playing A grade at 15!

It certainly was Dutchy. Club stalwarts believe he could be the first Langhorne Creek player to be picked in the A Grade while still a junior colt - certainly the first in recent memory.

Was thinking the same thing

Their B Grade have gone out in straight sets, maybe their A Grade will as well?
Having said that their A Grade still go all right with a narrow loss on Saturday their only blemish and are still a huge chance of taking the flag for the 3rd year running.

Was amazed with that. Picked up a solid 2 touches in the final round 12 goal victory over VH. His opponent was best and kicked a sausage of his own.

Reserves Mudlarks vs Mclaren
Muddies to knock vale out in straight sets, too strong with the big mids, 3 goals

A grade Compass vs Mclaren
Compass will come with a different mindset to last week, 6 goals

And then there was 2
McLaren for the 2nd week in a row in a thriller
McLaren 12 -11
Def
Mt Compass 11 - 12

Grand Final
Langhorne Creek v McLaren (What odds that at the start of the season ?)

Some BIG Finals failures
Mt Compass Finished TOP on the back of an 11 game winning streak and all would have assumed they would have been playing a HOME Grand Final (Including me) and they go out in STRAIGHT SETS
And not to be outdone Mt Compass' 'B' Grade also went out in straight sets after finishing 2nd.
And to top that off McLaren 'B' Grade also went out in straight sets after being UNDEFEATED in the Minor round

Certainly has been an unpredictable finals series so far.
Tipping 1 from 5 so far in the finals im reluctant to have a pick.
Will say on form that Langhorne Creek should start a warm favorite based on their consistent form since round 5 having only being beaten once since then (By Compass) and having beaten McLaren in all 3 encounters this season.
Lets hope for a fine and calm day weather wise to see a great contest as as per usual the typical windy Spring weather has made for challenging conditions for the teams to showcase footy at its best.

Why no white shorts on one of the teams here? Surely a clash?

If there is a clash, one team usually has a different guernsey, we always wear the same colour shorts. No alternate shorts are used.

Why no white shorts Dutchy asks?
Because this is the GSFL and not the HFL where there is such a rule where 1 team HAS to wear white shorts regardless of there being a clash or not? Correct me if im wrong, was just told something like that the other week.
As Tiger83 alluded to, some clubs in the GSFL have taken it upon themselves to have an alternate jumper to avoid a clash when needed, seems to work well. Langhorne Creek wear a predominately white jumper as their clash strip. Not sure why they didnt wear it this match but i dont recall any complaints on the day so must not have been a problem.

Also a great photo of "The Creature" doing some of his best work and a great example of the value of playing in front.

LC is exact jumper as Hawthorn so the back is all yellow with brown number so not really a clash with MC outside of the narrow context of this photo. It is my understanding that many country leagues only require one set of shorts for each club on the basis of no real clashes home or away plus a cost saving for players and parents. But because Dutchy’s progressive club has an alternate strip (pretty awful one at that) then he thinks every club should just shake the money tree and deck out every team with alternate jumpers. Even the AFL has eased off with the requirement to wear alternates despite Richmond having to do so in last years GF which was 50/50 whether they should have.
