Last year 43 players (28.67%) of the players who participated in the SA Country Football Championships were recruited to other clubs, only 7 of these went to the SANFL. This has effectively become a recruiting meat-market. If you want money it is in your best interests to be playing in this carnival, a number of big spending clubs send delegates to scout and few, if any, players do not receive an offer of some sort before the following season.
With the points system now restricting the number of players able to be brought into a club, the clubs now need to be more selective on the players they recruit, this ensures that the price these clubs have to pay rises as they each bid for the services of the better players. The Country Football Championships collects together 150 of the most highly sought after players across the state into one location under the watchful eyes of recruiters.
