Reading a few different posts on here it is apparent some people are interested in this carnival and as I will be attending it I will attempt (be gentle with me - its my first time doing this!!) to post teams, results etc during the championships to keep you updated.

That would be good thanks PuttingBStorest
Don't worry to much about getting the facts right.

Ok - will try - and can start now (as Im already here) by saying perfect weather over here today - sun shining and little or no wind - but I understand a change is on the way and due to hit tomorrow afternoon. As for the oval - it looks in pretty good nick - not too soft under foot but that could change if the expected rain hits.

Ok - seen most of the preliminary games thus far and it looks like Southern will again dominate their group although they havent player Western yet on their home deck and Western played pretty well this morning against Central. For me I still reckon Southern have bigger bodies and a bit too much class. In the other group Mid South East and Eastern look really close and hard to split - they are playing each other at the moment and the result could go either way. Northern played pretty well in the first game and I honestly couldn't tell you which of this group will play when tomorrow - its really tight in that group!!!!

Quality of the footy hasn't been too bad although the wind has made it a bit scrappy.

As for the weather - well its been dry so far but the wind is strengthening and blowing mainly across - maybe favouring the southern end a bit. Rain is due tonite which will make conditions difficult with the wind still meant to be blowing reasonably hard.

Good luck to all for tomorrow

MURRAY SOUTH EAST WINS 2016 MAC SA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Murray South East has won its second MAC SA Country Championship after upsetting Southern District in the Grand Final in Port Lincoln on Sunday.

Chasing its first title since a breakthrough victory in 2014, Murray South East ran over the top of its more-fancied opponent with a four-goal final term to win by 11 points at Centenary Oval.

Despite trailing by 15 points at three-quarter time, the red, white and blacks managed to hold Southern District scoreless in the fourth quarter to claim the 2016 crown.

And the rewards didn't stop there for the MSE team, which was represented by the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara, Western Border, River Murray and Mid South East Football Leagues.

MSE mentor Adam Merrett was presented with the Bill Murdoch Medal as the Coach of the Championships while former North Adelaide midfielder Brian Fenton was awarded the Don McSweeny Medal as Player of the Championships.

The winning side also supplied as many as seven players in the 2016 Team of the Championships, which was picked across both days of competition on the Eyre Peninsula.

Hosting zone Western claimed third place after defeating Northern by 54 points in the second match on Sunday while Central finished fifth after winning the opening contest against Eastern by 30 points.
