Very little mail in Riverland circles right now...

Although I've heard Loxton's b grader Brendan Schulz is transferring to Wunkar - is that true Supa? Will be an incredible asset if he does. Talent to burn for a hockey player and hard as nails.

Jim Patterson confirmed to Brown's Well. Will be handy in ruck. Mick Romeo and Peter Aggeletos from Loxton going too...apparently.

Loxton's b grade could be a bit shaky this year.

Berri rumoured to be spending lots of money - but no names confirmed.

Peter Safralidis working at Loxton Primary. He won't be transferring from the Demons - but his presence will have local clubs sniffing. Interestingly he'll be working with Leigh Krueger.

Has been mentioned in dispatches.

He played colts a few years back when everyone thought he was just a hockey player. I think he was runner up best & fairest mixing hockey with footy. He played for Loxton U/18's the following year but only seems to have progressed to B grade standard.

At the time he played I was umpiring colts and I thought he would have made an A grade player.

He has played some A grade over the past three years.
But his laid back attitude and his taste for drinking on a Friday night seems to have hurt him at Loxton's selection table.
As I said, will be a quality player. I'd love to see him take on Cobby - they wouldn't know what hit 'em.

Barmera-Monash failed to lure talented former Eagles juniors Josh Lawson and Benn Waller to the Roos.
Tyrrell had been involved with the pair up North, but they've committed to playing for the Bloodhounds on the YP this season.

Clearances confirmed for Matt and Jason Barry from Loxton North to Gepps Cross.

Barry Kaesler from Loxton North to Tanunda.

Will leave some big holes at Windy Hill.

Murray Pioneer - 30/1/07
Demons coach says new system 'unfair'
By NICK DILLON
New Berri A grade coach Grant Russell believes his side is at a disadvantage following the introduction of the new points system to control recruiting in the Riverland Football League.
The points system replaced the salary cap last month and gives every player a point rating based on the level of football he has played at in previous seasons.
However, with all current Riverland players to start on a 'base rate' of zero, including those players who travelled to the region last year, Russell believes Berri will have difficulty in making up ground on the top three teams this season.
"When you finish bottom, you get your 14 points the same as Loxton who finished top," Russell said.
"In a way, it's harder for us because we don't get the sort of guys that they had last year for free."
Russell, who took over from 2006 coach Murray Voigt after a stint with West Gambier, said the top teams that had players travelling from Adelaide last season who are now worth zero points, would have an advantage over the Demons.
Berri won just two games last season and could lose several players including livewire midfielder Michael Hare.
"It's somewhat unfair, even though it's a good idea to bring it in," he said.
"I think in the first year it should have been graded with points allocated according to finishing places.
"Then we could revert to the current system."
Russell said Renmark would be at a disadvantage as well this season.
"What they're really doing in the first year is making the gap bigger instead of smaller," he said.
"It's self-defeating really, because you'd think the league would want Renmark and Berri, the two bottom clubs, to improve to make for a better competition.
Russell said the system was a good idea, but needed to be fine tuned for the first season.
"The system is good, I'm not complaining about the system, but I just think they could have introduced it a bit better," he said.
Meanwhile, Russell said Demons were training three nights a week but had focused on ball work rather than fitness.
"We've spent a fair bit of time on the skill side of things and also on how we want to play," he said.
"The fitness stuff is all worked into the ball work.
"It's not going too badly, I'm pretty pleased with the way things are going generally.
"The club seems pretty switched on about things."
Russell said the club had picked up several former players that would play important roles this season.
"We've picked up a full forward and a centre half forward but more importantly we've got some guys back that didn't play last year like Luke Taylor," he said.
"They make a heck of a difference because they don't cost us any points."

I'm assuming it's the same.

There are actually two Michael Hare's (one who I played juniors with at Centrals) who I think is at Paralowie now.

The Michael Hare who's leaving Berri played at Glenelg. It'd be pretty safe to assume he's the one going to Ironbank.
Very, very good player. Hard running midfielder. Will do very well. Probably would've won medal here if not for injury.

TWE - you'll be getting a fair package.

I too had heard the Shepparton rumour. But I'd also heard Hills, but not which club.
A football mate of mine played with him last year and was fairly good mates with him.
