Riverland Football Chatter

At this point in the Riverland:

Loxton's premiership coach Mick Zerna has resigned.

Waikerie advertising. I'd suggest Brenton Kay will get the job again, but the Maggies are fishing to see who's about.

Murray Voigt indicating he won't be coaching at Berri.

Brett Exelby reappointed to Renmark for a third year.

Barmera-Monash will be an interesting proposition, there's a few interesting things going on there at moment. Not sure if Tyrrell will get the job again. Which would be unfortunate.

Loxton North - Terry Eleftheriadis seems pretty settled there.

In the Independents -

all seem to be looking around.

With only Lyrup's Dave Glen indicating he definitely won't coach next season.

It seems highly likely John Kindness will be coaching Wunkar.

Others are all being advertised as far as I know.

Rumour has it that Mick Durdin will coach Brown's Well in 07, replacing Terry Broad.

East Murray will now be looking for a new coach.

Lyrup rumours are that Anthony Lippis will rejoin the Lions as coach, or that Ken Karpany will do the job.

In the River Murray Football League:

Tailem Bend has appointed Matthew Dent (ex Edwardstown coach, former player at Sturt, Fitzroy and Footscray). Dent played his junior footy with the Border Downs Football Club when this club was a part of the RMFL.

Jervois has reappointed Tim Richards who has coached them to the last 3 premierships.

Tyrell back on board with the Roos for his third season leading the club. However the four Darwin recruits from the past couple of seasons won't be returning.

Dent had to turn up somewhere. i knew his hat was in the ring at about 4 or 5 other clubs as well. Be interesting to see if he can bring a few player with him. i heard that there maybe a few players leaving jervois as well so they may have to start looking around for some more guns.

It will be interesting to see if Adam Morris goes to Tailem with Dent (and also to play with his brother) or if he goes back to his old team, Meningie.

Any names of these players leaving Jervois?

I dont know who it is that may be leaving Jervois but they do have several players with connections with Adelaide clubs such as the Jarolafsky brothers, Meekins, Ewar, Rigney. Theyve also got a couple of guys such as Ben Pyman and David Scholz who are over 30 who may be considering retirement. Knowing the Jervois Football Club and Tim Richards though, regardless of who they lose, they'll no doubt splash a bit of cash around and get some quality imports into their club.

I don't know any names - but there might be some players with Jervois connections in the rink to play at Moorook too.

So a Riverland update:

Loxton - looking for someone to replace Mick Zerna. A player with SANFL connections being talked to. While a former Riverland person who's been involved with junior coaching at league clubs has also shown interest.

Loxton North - Terry Eleftheriadis has been reappointed. Five time premiership player and former Centrals reserves player Darren Schwarz appointed seconds coach.

Waikerie - Brenton Kay resigned. Club looking for a new coach. Rumour has it Daniel Hargraves had been interested.

Renmark - Brett Exelby reappointed.

Barmera-Monash - Mark Tyrrell reappointed. Everything seems to have settled at the club after a little after season turmoil. Seems club will have to some major recruiting in off season as Darwin recruits not coming back.

Berri - Murray Voigt has indicated he won't coach them again. But apparently the club's had little to no interest in the senior coaching position at this point.

Independents

Cobdogla - can only assume premiership coach Rod Hankin will have the job again.

Paringa - Brett Blackwell most likely to take on job again. But club has been casting net.

Moorook-Kingston - Appears Rod Hill won't take on job again. High profile appointment expected next week.

Lyrup - Still no word.

Wunkar - John Kindness expected to coach again.

East Murray - Looking for another coach, may be some interest from Karoonda side of the district. Mick Durdin stepped aside and now to coach Brown's Well.

Brown's Well - Durdin taken job. Some players may cross from East Murray, but club will need to recruit significantly if they're to challenge for a win in 2007.

mwahahahahaaha not sure mate. I'm sure the rumour mill in Loxton's running riot though - I'd be very surprised if Minus hadn't heard, cos he works with the chap in question....

I did say 'expected' too. Nothing's been officially confirmed yet.
