Mine;

1. Blackwood
2. Hahndorf
3. Mt Barker
4. Uraidla
5. Echunga
6. Onka Valley
7. Lobethal
8. Mt Lofty

I think the top 2 (Blackwood and Hahndorf) are going to be a class above the rest of the competition. Mt Barker look to be the big improves and I have them climbing the ladder and possibly a real contender if they can kick enough goals. Uradlia are always around the mark. Question mark for Echunga, I see they have brought a few ins to bolster ranks, but for them to really improve it will be from their kids, they have a lot under 24 in their team. Onkas will be competing with Echunga for that last spot for the finals, toss of the coin who will get it. That leaves Lobe and Lofty and unfortunately I think it will be a tough campaign again for them both.

Going to be very strange only having the 8 teams in Div. 1 this year. Slightly concerning I feel for the HFL.

Have Onkas picked up any? they lost they best 3-4 players from last yr. I have them 7-8th. Dorf have lost some good players but picked up a few too so see them around the mark. Uri's lost both last yrs recruits so they will slide. Any news on Blackwood? Heard Lobey got some Norwood boys back?

Blackwood essentially have the same team as last year. A couple of lads have gone down the hill to chase some coin, but we have the depth to cover them I feel. Have some really talented youngsters coming up.

Dorf
Woods
Barker
Echunga
Lobey

Uri
Lofty
Onkas

Round one just a couple of sleeps away, who is everyone tipping? My thoughts;

Mount Barker v Echunga - Both sides with some handy ins as well as losing a couple. Mt Barker just looks to have a more even spread of contributors. Mt Barker by 20 points.

Onka Valley v Handorf - From all reports Hahndorf have had a poor preseason, both on the track as well as losing key players. Wouldnt be surpised if they slide this year. Onka Valley in a close one, by 10 points.

Lobethal v Uradlia - Busy offseason for Lobe with a number of players returning and a couple of decent recurits. Uradlia are looking much the same, but losing Amato is a huge loss for them. Tigers I feel with have just to much pace for the northern dees and expect them to enjoy the wide expanses at home. Lobethal by 18 points.

Blackwood v Mt Lofty - Blackwood have essentially the same side as last years. A couple have retired and one other leaving via financial incentive, but we have numerous youngsters coming up from the senior colts that should fill the void. I think its going to be another tough season for the Devils and I cant see them getting close in this one. Blackwood by 60 points.

The wet weather is also a test after such a warm pre season, I see the Tigers also lost a young bloke Ruediger probably for coin to Horsham league

That they did. Look a very fit and well drilled outfit. Ran all over us in the last half. A grade knocked us off today as well unfortunately. Disappointing day at the office, especially in the A grade. Hopefully we will get a few guys back in the coming weeks.

Scrappy win over Uradlia yesterday, but a win is a win and we will take it. Lobe getting over Onka Valley is surprising. Bulldogs just not consistent or are the tigers a little better then expected? Lofty fading in yet another match must be frustrating for them too.

Saw the GF rematch yesterday at Hahndorf oval, Hahndorf doing enough for 3/4's to stay in front and then blasted out the blocks in the last quarter to completely run over them. Was a battle of defence for most of the game, Blackwood persisted in kicking around sideways and backwards did not make pretty football. Not sure who the umpires were, but when you notice umpires more than the game you can tell something is not right...
Still early days for the season, but it would appear that Blackwood, Hahndorf, Mt Barker, Echunga and Uraidla are setting themselves up as the top 5?

Saw Hahndorf steam roll Uraidla on the weekend.
Impressive, although it should be said that Uraidla appear to be struggling.

Echunga not travelling all that well going by the scores. They’d be disappointed to drop a game to Onkas that they would have chalked up as a win.

Onka Valley aren't quite as poor as some would have you believe. They played quite well against us a fortnight ago just lacked a little polish and consistency. However in saying that, we're struggling quite a bit in comparison to last year. Injures and retirements have hurt us more then we expected, especially our depth.

Darcy Hourigan would have to be one of if not the best power forwards in SA country footy?? Bloke is a monster and rarely misses.

A little from column A, a little from column B. Mind you I wasn't there either.

Would love to see him have another crack at a higher level.
