Good day down there yesterday with great hospitality, Flaggies won all grades but all were pretty competitive.

Who did Imps play, looked like a bulldog type jumper? When I popped thru on way home Imps were 8 goals down.

Onkas

Nice of the murray valley 'sub' standard to put an article about football in the thursday before the season starts. They have really outdone themselves in hyping up the season and getting everyone excited about local footy and netball returning this year - said no one ever.

Anyway, predictions for '17 season are: meningie look strong and should romp it in similar to how ramblers did last year with mannum their only threat come september. Imps and jervois should fight for 3rd and 4th. Ramblers will drop off and should hold out tailem for 5th - Yes i think tailem will finally get to sing their song again at some stage.. Woohoo! And barring a horrific run of injury to another team Mypo appear to be lacking depth and may as well just get the spoon engraved now!

Looks like Meningie and Mannum are the sides to beat this year - and I have to say it is great to see Imps stuck at the bottom of the ladder. The only thing that could add to it is if Tailem Bend get a few surprise wins and knock Ramblers out of the 5 aswell.

Wonder if the two 'population blessed' murray bridge clubs have ever both missed out on finals in the same year. Wouldnt that be a shock and i was wrong about mypo and the spoon and whilst i still think they will possibly go out in straight sets in september action they have exceeded all expectations this year for sure.

Anyone else catch the Owen love show today at meningie. Tough gritty and hard to tackle inside mid, Elite field kick setting teammates up then started dropping bombs from outside 50... First couple were drop punts from 55 to 60 before he kicked a ridiculous barrel off only about 5 steps from 70 and put it straight through to send the jervois faithful into a frenzy. Is there a better kick in country footy?

I had mannum pencilled in for the win but jervois 1st half was unbelievable. Mannums inaccurate kicking cost them as they tried to come back and jervois would simply slot one every chance they got.
If jervois play like that this week they can beat meningie and as for the gf - why not? Pretty impressive from 5th on the ladder but after the weekend anything is possible.

Well this is the most boring thread on this site!

Went down to Tailem today to watch the most entertaining man in country football Nick “Big Greasy” Pearce and his Ramblers today.

Was an entertaining enough game of footy. Ramblers obviously fairly superior to Mypo. Unfortunately Nathan Wright popped his shoulder early in the second quarter robbing the crowd of the pleasure of him and Pearce at each other all day. Ramblers have some exciting front and centre players and small midfielders who stood up in the first half when the game was there to be won and then combined with the Grease machine in the 3rd quarter to take the game away from the tigers.

Tigers had a good full forward but I didn’t see too much else to excite me. Enjoyed the swagger of the blonde full forward up the other end.

The crowd seemed a little light on for what I expected for a country final. Is that due to it being a Sunday final or Tailem being a bit of a shit place to watch footy?

Banter was below average too. It come out only 2-3 times and was poor quality. Interesting to see a bloke wearing a Tailem shirt give Grease shit for wanting to eat a bloke who had just punched him in the nose. I would have thought that if you had just spent the last 10 years paying overs for Adelaide hacks to get beaten by 25 goals a game you’d be a bit more withdrawn.

Loved the height and weight listings in the budget but wowee some were out by minimum 20kg.

Covid-19 has certainly changed the fabric of our season. With the Tailem Removalist debacle in place, this weeks game between Tailem Bend and Jervois has been declared a draw, with both teams splitting the points. Big Josh Scott would be a little upset that Boras gets an extra game in the race to kick a hundred this year.

What is the reason for this?
Are some Tailem Bend players stuck in isolation?
