Baffling story about the weekend's derby between Hamilton and err, Hamilton Imps.

Apparently the scoreboard at the final siren said a tie.
Then, after some brief deliberations, it was suggested that Imps had won sending the team and supporters into raptures.
After more deliberations, it is alleged the scoreboard attendant wrongly awarded Imps a point that was Hamilton's and Hamilton, somehow, ended up winning by 2 points!

I'm not sure if this has been discussed anywhere, but I've heard that Jason Akermanis is likely to make an appearance for one of the Victorian clubs in this league - Hamilton I think. I believe its written into the contract with his Tasmanian club, that he be cleared throughout the year to other clubs around the country during the week of their bye(s), and then cleared back straight after. Apparently Millicent will be the opposition club when he plays in the WBFL.

Aker was actually a target for Hamilton this year, but they're saving their pennies for Fev after Casey gives him the arse.

Over $250 a touch. Cheaper going to a brothel. Well, most brothels. Unless you go upmarket.

Classic story.

http://www.borderwatch.com.au/news/local/sport/football-australian-rules/will-the-real-ash-evans-please-stand-up/2449767.aspx

Will the real Ash Evans please stand up?

Image

Both West Gambier and Millicent have been approached by a player calling himself Ash Evans, but portraying that his football resume is the same as the one we have pictured here.
The real Ash Evans is a classy on-baller who plays with the Mount Gravatt Vultures in the Queensland AFL.

The pretend Ash Evans is believed to have played at no higher level than remote country Victorian leagues.

Evans - the genuine one - has played in a premiership with the Vultures, won the club's best and fairest and in 2007 was best on ground in the QAFL grand final.

"If it was the genuine article, we would be thrilled to have him, but we think the one going around town is a dud," said one WBFL senior coach.

"It's almost a case of stolen identity."

Mount Gravatt's Ash Evans is currently undergoing a knee operation and unlikely to play within the next six months.

Mount Gravatt Football Club director, Peter Jameson said Ash Evans (the real one) had heard of the situation of a player claiming to be him and found it quite funny.

"Ash is currently in rehabiliation from his knee operation and although he's originally from Maryborough in country Victoria, he has indicated to us that he is staying with the Vultures when he recuperates," Jamieson said.

Millicent coach Darren Dean admitted his club first thought they had the real deal until some further investigation was done.

"Other clubs in the area need to be warned that there is someone pretending to be Ash Evans from Mount Gravatt and looking for a game of football," Dean said.

"This guy's name might actually be Ash Evans, but it's not the one we were told about. I understand this guy might have played at Melton South, but certainly not at QAFL level."

Rumours were circulating yesterday that Evans (the bogus one) had approached East Gambier, but Bulldogs senior coach Mick Childs denied any knowledge of the player but was thankful of the warning.

I've heard a strong rumour that a mt Gambier football club (not sure which one) has offered a ruckman from Central Districts $2500 a game as well as flying him and his wife down for every game. Is that the kind of money flying around in this league?

And another one I have heard is a Glenelg Senior/Reserves player (O'Grady) has gone to a Mt. Gambier team as assistant coach on about $1500 per game and getting flown down. Mt Gambier airlines will do well on Saturdays if this is the case.

looks like a Western Border club has dodged a massive bullet with Travis Wilson's transfer being denied - he brings nothing but bad karma wherever he goes!
