Beaten by the Southern Eagles.

Well done to the Southern Eagles beating Moonta as they looked a long way off the week before v Kadina. I’m busy seeding so haven’t seen any football for a few weeks but was told a mile off against Kadina.

Lucky “The Sack” is playing for them this week or it might be 2 losses in a row, who would have thought

Congrats Kadina

Huge win by Kadina. I had given up making comments on here about YP footy because it was Moonta by lots and lots until yesterday had known other reasons to think otherwise.
Moonta were at full strength with the Port boys back and their coach Goldsack all playing.
Hats off to Egg but I hope he can resist the temptation to have a drink as he’s done a great job being off it for a few years now. What about the temptation though

Matty Allen from South Clare to Southern Eagles, will be a handy pick up.

Have heard Bute may have picked up a few players from Broadies in the Amateurs, not sure how reliable the info is but if correct certainly picked up some talent

Will finish bottom 3 with Wallaroo and Ardrossan. You could combine all 3 and they still be 5 goals worse than the top 3 or 4 sides.

How many player points do each club receive, are they the same. Or do you what each club gets?

Sliding scale, if you play in the GF you get 10. The maximum is 15 and after that you can apply to the SANFL for more under exceptional circumstance’s. Ardrossan and Bute have extra points, Ardrossan 17 and Bute 20.

Not Much different to the top 4 clubs who receive 10 or 12 points, to the bottom 4 - 15 points + extra . The top 4 or 5 teams seam to finish in the finals every year and Bute, Wallaroo, Paskerville and Ardrossan always seam to be a long way of them. Is it poor recruiting or is is a just their turn to struggle. I know Wallaroo always seam to be strong in juniors which may result in a stronger seniors if they can retain them, but wouldn't the league be better if all 9 clubs where competitive.

Not quite correct. Points are worked out on win/loss ratio over previous 3 seasons, not on ladder finishing position. For 2023 the points are Moonta 8, CMS 8, Kadina 11, Cougars 11, Eagles 12, then all of Pasky, Bute, Ardrossan and Wallaroo on 15.

So the team that won the Grand Final are on 4 less points then one of the bottom teams? That's only 1 decent player and those Botton sides are trying to close the gap of 10 goals. Hazbeen do you know what point are allocated for 2024 and if any club as asked for extra?

The match results on PlayHQ clearly show what the points allocation is. In 2023 the points allocation was Moonta 10, CMS 10, Eagles 11, Kadina 13, Wallaroo 15, Pask 15, Ardrossan 17, Bute 20. Im assuming Hazbeen meant 2024 above but based on 2023 I can’t see those 2024 points as being correct unless the YPFL has overhauled their points allocation somewhat.

Yes, sorry meant 2024.

Additional points have been granted following applications from 3 clubs but I can't publicise them until the board is made aware.

Bute, Pasky and Ardrossan have very low Junior numbers. Not a lot of A and B graders coming through each year. No point investing in big name big price recruits if you don’t have a good bunch of locals.

I’m a follower from distance due to a family connection to YP and my cousin playing for Southern Eagles.

Why are Ardrossans junior numbers so low? It seems like one of the larger towns on the peninsula.

Is it time that Bute and Paskeville merge? Northern Yorke Peninsula?

It seems wallaroo has decent junior numbers, so 3 clubs is viable in the triangle?

Could we see a competition like -

Kadina
Moonta
Wallaroo
Northern Yorke Peninsula
Southern Eagles
CMS Crows
CY Roos (combination of CY and Ardrossan)

Play everyone 3 times over 18 weeks
