Support for the GSFL Umpires

Postby Jetters » Fri Jul 29, 2011 6:26 pm

The Metro South Junior Football League Umpires Panel will wear red arm bands this round to show their support for the GSFL and their umpires in regard to the incident concerning a junior player striking an umpire and subsequently having his suspension reduced.

I think it would great if all SAAFL umpires, as well as other leagues, did the same.

SFL Umpires are.
SFL President emailed the club Presidents suggesting players and officials may be interested in doing so as well, and would have the support of the SFL Board.

SFL and GSFL umpires are all comprised of the same umpires with The Combined Southern Leagues Football Umpires Panel (CSLFUP) being the panel which coordinates both.

I heard a report on sunrise that if this kid did serve his full 5 year term that he may be lost to the game for ever............. Good! Idiots like this through his career will cause a lot of people to walk away from footy. Even when I was 8 I knew not to touch umpires. Ban the idiot for life
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Correct, the kid might learn that actions have consequences. Something that my parents taught me a lot earlier than 14 just quietly.

I'm not playing this week due to injury, but if i was i'd be wearing red as well.

I'm not a lover of umps but theirs no game without them, i respect the role they have to play & fully support the GSFL umpires decision.
Its a pity this youngster has no respect as shown by his reckless, stupidity not only once but numerous times at only 14.
I'm disappointed by the SANFLs disgraceful decision, this kid will never learn & the SANFL have not set a good example by reducing his penalty. :oops:shame-shame

Ido not condon what this kid has done but he still has to serve a 3year ban,and any further reports would see him gone for life ? i say give him one more chance to hang him self ! im pretty sure the saafl has a 12 game ban your out for life and thats from any league?

From my understanding, the life ban after 15 games counts only if that 15 games is in the SAAFL

eg a player in SAAFL gets 20 games for something, the player is banned for life from the SAAFL, but can resume playing in another league once that 20 games has expired. Correct me if i'm off the mark.

Anyways, the kid should have been done for life, no second chance, no nothing. As it stands the kid will be back in the game at 17, now i don't know about you but a lot of terror young kids really by age 17 have become unmanageable social outcasts that generally hate the world. Can't wait to have him back on the footy ground during this period!!
