The bit I find hard to explain is the Parents ban, surely not all parents were involved and as a parent, I'm not sure I would want to leave my kids at a game and then leave, what if they get hurt?

Some parents who probably had nothing to do with this may be caught in this as well. It must only be a select few that got banned, surely you couldnt ban parents that have nothing that had nothing to do with the blue?

Maybe someone with more information could clear up that point.

As for pearcy, nice mix with words. Very creative.

Hopefully somebody from the club up Grand Juntion Rd can give us their side of the story cause the one doing the rounds is that the parents were the reason the 16 & 18yo umps could'nt get to their cars.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

Well I hope that wasnt the case, as the game needs some good young unpires coming through the ranks. I suspect that there is another side to this story which may turn things on its head. I guess we will have to wait and see.

knowing two of the tribunal who have both been involved in footy for over 40 years to penalise the coach 6 weeks and 9 suspended seems a fair penalty. how the executive can issue life is a very big call. the coach is no angel however his record is very good.

In any of these issues it's always a minority of people - players, parents or officials - spoiling it for the majority.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if the kids and their families are happy then they will stick with a club regardless of how many games they win or lose. If the atmosphere around a team or club is unpleasant then decent families will leave, regardless of premierships or success.
An under 8's coach told me recently that he had some families from another club join this year and they told him that they can't believe that a) the kids don't get screamed at by the coach, b) the parents don't abuse the umpire and c) the kids are HAPPY, even though they don't win too many games.
All the above happened at their former club and until they moved they thought that it was the same at all clubs!
Thank God it's not!

The life bans were for racial vilification. Quite rightly from the version of events told to me by a member of the NEMJFA executive.

And yes, the parents were responsible for the umpires not being able to get to their cars. A disappointing situation.

The story behind Walkerville U15s first win of the season is quite amusing, the Salisbury North coach must be one thick bloke.

You make some good points there pearcy about u8's football. Really at that level yelling abuse at umpires and kids getting screamed at is poor form.

As I said before, every club has issues - whether at junior or senior level. Remember that an average sized club like Gepps has only 160 players fewer than the entire AFL! It's like a small primary school, but run by volunteers. And like every organisation with a lot of family involvement there will be conflict and disputes. How you handle it can make all the difference. We've had coaches, parents and officials lose their cool just like every other club has. They rarely do it twice.

A DEMONic game! A CATastrophic day for junior footy.

Did well to get the message across without directly naming anyone...
