Hafey, I reckon I'm getting warm. You've been s%$t canning Roach in previous posts and you've also been s%$t canning Steve O'Connor from Barossa Districts so I'm tipping you've had something do with one or both of them at their time together at Kilburn or Salisbury North. Got few scars have you

I have no personal issues with Roach and there is no doubt he has had his fair share of success but his old fashioned way of coaching was never going to be suited to Adelaide Uni and this is why Ben Hart is being targeted to head the challenge to get them back up to Div 1 .

Blacks130 , dont know how you can say that Roach has been a " revalation " when you are on the cusp of dropping back to Div 2 for the first time . The coach is responsible for the teams performance and if he isnt producing wins and moving the team in the right direction commitee's , members and other influences start looking to replace him .

Its a shame , was looking forward to watching Port District beating Uni in Div 1 next year but maybe they will get back up there someday .

Roach was appointed Coach of Adelaide Uni in the 3rd week of January after the previous coach tended his resignation the day before Christmas. I can gaurentee you Ben Hart is not being targeted to coach the club and would suggest you are stirring the pot by suggesting so. I repeat Roach has been reappointed for 08. He has been a tremendous form of support to a group of players that have been out of their depth this year in Div 1. I'm interested how you'd know what if any style of coaching would be suited to the AUFC because he has shown his ability as a coach this year by adapting to the ways of our footy club. Besides, what if any Coaching style does Ben Hart have that would be deemed suitable to AU, actually don't worry about answering that it's moot point.

I've got acouple of mates in the As at Uni that I played juniors with at North and they rate Roach very highly. Alot better than the bloke that coached them last year.

Roach has done a great job with uni this year, and they will be back in A1 very soon.
Just keep an eye out for your own team, couple of little hicups lately hey !!!

In an unforgiving league such as the SAAFL it is no wonder that club like AU is experiencing some down time. I am sure that the Roach's percentage football will be useful in Div 2.

Exactly Kookas - blacks130 would be wise to talk to some of his counterparts at Kilburn and learn how a club can go from champange to sh-t in three years. Kilburn are going to need some men with deep pockets or they might just find themselves waking up sore and sorry after game with Smithfield in division 5.

Div 2 will be different too. Look forward to playing on Uni oval rather than the crap hole down at Districts or Seaton. Still, I guess it'll be back to normal in 09

its happened to alot of good clubs and can happen pretty quick e.g Pooraka, Greenacres , Athlestone and kilburn. Some teams who have been up in the top 2 divs and then dropped and have now fought back like Gullies,Modbury Payneham who were gone and SMOSH WL should be proud of there commitees and club to get back to the position which all these clubs are in at the minute.

Any way who cares about Uni there just another team trying to survive

to Blacks130 credit, it was always going to be pushing shit up the hill for roachy only coming into the job late January, less than 2 months to start of season. If he had been from start of pre-season last year he would of been able to get some game plans in place.

I don't think the time frame was the problem, some clubs don't even start pre-season 'til January. Sometimes a coach can only do so much with the cattle he's got. He obviously has the respect of the club and playing group so he's doing something right. They may be in A2 next year, but it might be to do with the lack of an A1-quality list and not a lack of a quality coach.

Pag, you've probably got a fair point there but it was just one factor amongst many that distruped the club from preparing fully for a year in Div1. Clearly a poor prep
