In most cases i would let the bloke train but i would have had a reasonable discussion with him as to why he wanted to play elsewhere. Having exhausted this conversation i would at least run it past the players and then make sure the player in question does the right thing at trainings etc. As a club you should be concerned with how you are perceived by others and your clubs reputation as this goes a long way toward recruiting, attracting families etc. If a player chooses to go and play somewhere else (for money or another reason) that is his choice but if you penalise him by not letting him train with you then you are definately burning your bridges. He probably will never come back and worse still any negative comments made about this to others will ultimately hurt your club in the run. If you keep a postive relationship with him he may return one day and may bring more players with him. If he still has mates at the club that he is training with this will be the lure to get him back and play - not $$$.

It all depends imo, if the bloke was an established member of your club and has paid up with fees and supported functions and had a decent reason for going to the country to play (Even if it's for coin) then I could see no reason why he could not play. On the other hand if he was getting paid at you're club and went because he was getting a better deal i'd tell him to piss off. Horses for courses.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

On the other hand, with a lack of ostracism, other players from your club may consider the mercenary route.

Tough call.

If it was one of my mates I'd belt the crap out of him and lambast him for the rest of his life

Diplomacy can go as far as loyalty. Would you want him to come back knowing that he bailed for money - is that roel model material? Would you always feel on the back foot continually trying to please him, continually trying to lure him back? How does that place the rest of your 'team's' (of which he is not a part of) feelings.

I didn't suggest 'continually trying to lure him back' or kowtowing to any one player's needs. Diplomacy may be useful, but yes, loyalty is priceless and is something you want to instill in the player group of any club. Still a tough call, one to make on a case by case basis and with an understanding of the dynamics of the particular club.

NM its easy , if the bloke has left your club for more money and you have done everything right by him don't let him train there . He should respect the club for its decsion , if he was worth anything he would have stayed at your club in the first place . Thanks but no thanks , if you want to come back nad play your more than welcome .

I think you would have to base the decision on the circumstance. If the player has done the right thing by the club and been open and honest with the coach in terms of where he is playing then if he needs a place to train while his new club trains on nights maybe where the player cant get to then why wouldnt he ask the coach if he can remain training. Im sure then if the deal did go pear shaped and the player was not happy at his new club then he could go back.

I agree though if the player has done the wrong thing by his old club then fair enough he should not be asking to train there.

I agree with you newman, lets say a player left say Seaton for example, to go and play at say Bridgewater, again for an example, if Seaton allow him to train there and hope to god Bridgewater fell through well then i guess its their call, examples only.
