possibly the worst sledge i have ever heard in a game. come on mate.

I wouldnt have thought it was the right thing to say either, but the bloke involved had a chuckle, so all good.

Not worse than a spectator running on the field, thats for sure...

Played in a game about 5 or 6 years ago being umpired by Barry Lewis (high ranking police officer). Stevie Urbank told him he should be worrying about catching the the youths going around spiking car tyres in the Port Adelaide area at the time rather than umpiring footy. Pretty funny at the time :D :D :D
I'm number 1, so why try harder!!

'The last time you had a kick was in your mother's womb', repeated over and over again by a very drunk football director on saturday night. Little did he know he was sledging the wine barrel he was leaning on.

Not really a sledge, but one of the lads at the club gets out his mankini when the weathers good and stands behind the opposition goals.

Hes not small either.

We tend to win those games.

This is one where the ump had the last laugh.

Forward nudges defender under the ball.
Umpire awards free kick for a push in the back, even though the nudge was done with a hip to the backside of the defender (a skill this particular forward has down to a fine art).
Forward turns to umpire and cranks up a response: "WHAT????"
Umpire replies: "It was in the back and the ball's got to be within five metres anyway."
Forward retorts: "It'd be good if you were" and turns to face the mark thinking that was the last of it and that he'd got a good one in on the umpire.
Umpire blows whistle and awards 50 for backchat.
1-0 umpire.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Heard a player come up from a pack and said to the umpire that he is Jesus Christ, which the umpire looked with a wondering look, when the player said that he was crucifying the team, very funny at the time and even the umpire had a chuckle.

blacks v rostrevor c1 game

rostrevor guy gets a free thirty metres out straight in front, plays on, gets tackled and misses. umpire sees it as a twenty five metre penalty because he reckons the guy hadn't played to advantage.
blacks guy turns to umpire while standing the mark and suggests loudly that perhaps he had paid advantage, the guy had kicked a point what more could he expect.
result - sledges the umpire, the player and the upcoming kick. guy missed - another point.

tea tree gully v blacks in 1990 gf in div 8
uni guy has sewn his number on back to front so instead of 137 he has 731. #731 gets a free after beating three gully guys, ttg guy standing on the fence near the mark says, "is that your number or your iq mate" . uni bloke stops, turns and pronounces, well that would be at least 731 times yours then.
was both weakest and best comeback.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Was having trouble rucking with how low our ump was throwing the ball at times, eventually I spat it and let him have a "FFS Merv any chance you could throw the effing ball at a normal height?"!

Just as he was about to throw it up he turned his head and said "JK, any chance you could shorten your effing run up!" .. I won the tap but most of our midfielders were too busy laughing to get the ball.
