We have a situation where a Div 6 club has applied for a clearance for a player who played 2 B grade games and 3 A grade games in season 2008 and was injured and did not play any further games in the season.
Player was paid for A grade games on a weekly basis minus outstanding money owed for shorts, socks and associated player costs but no deduction was made for subs. This was done in fairness to player because it would have exhausted his funds for those weeks.
When clearance was lodged by club, we refused on the grounds of player being unfinancial and still owing subs for 2008, his new club has lodged a complaint based on the fact "we had the opportunity to deduct subs money" but didn't.
Where in the hell are we heading?
If this complaint is upheld by the SAAFL, we might as well all close our books because refusing a clearance on the grounds of being unfinancial will become like a 'dinosaur', another thing of the past!
We have got off the track a bit so I'm bringing this back for any further comments.
So it's still not sorted. Can't see Trinity forking out the cash to settle it, although it's probably worth it to secure the services of a player who'd be more than handy in Div 6. Is the player Moss?
If the SAAFL upholds their complaint, as I said before, we might as well all surrender and just make all clearance applications defunct and have "open slather"
No not Moss. This guy came from Broadview with Roey but a major disappointment.
