First news - player reported got 7 games - was remorseful and said he would cop his penalty - plenty of speculation but video evidence showed he was not the only one to have thrown a punch at player who had jaw broken. Further claims that he kicked someone on the ground were unsubstantiated. Player will cop his lot.

Grand Final replay was a cracker - Modbury had the better of the first half - leading 4 - 4 to 6 points until 30 seconds before half time, when Gullies scored their first much needed goal.

The third quarter was all Gullies as they kicked 4 goals without reply to lead by about 10 at the break - premiership quarter looked to have them heading for a victory. Maybe missing so many shots on goals was going to prove costly.

The last quarter was almost the opposite - as Modbury stepped up to do all the scoring into whatever breeze there was. Gullies just stopped finding the footy and Modbury's back line were sensational, foiling any pack contests and rebounding solidly. The X factor of Dalton Wegman (an U/16 player) came into play as he took a couple of ripper marks and had the legs to carry the ball and break lines to the Modbury forwards.

Plenty of criticism of the umpires from both sides, however a neutral observer would say that were consistent. Too many 25 metres penalties, some very costly for Gullies but cannot be credited for result. IMHO - Modbury won 6 of the 8 quarters played in both games and deserved to win.

Good post

Was a great day at Salisbury Oval(minus the idiot ground/match offical), big crowd and a good tough tight game of footy..... Was great for the Hawks to get over the line after a few GF losses in recent years! I know they are still celebrating atm.

Young Dalton is a suprise packet. PLayed under 18s all year and came in for the last few games of the season and now has a premiership. He took some good marks but none better than the one against goody saints in the semi final. A player to watch for in the future for sure!
