SAAFL on 5RPH

Postby Rupert My Boy » Fri Apr 11, 2008 4:10 pm

I hope the content and presentation of the SAAFL footy show improves, I thought this mornings effort was pretty ordinary.

They even had a cooking / recipe segment in it, what the hell has that got to do with footy?

Boys, you get 2 hours a week to talk SAAFL footy, leave the cooking lessons to the people that know how to do it. I realise Mark Bayliss has gone, surely you can come up with a better effort than this mornings.

Very Very average alright, who ever they were replaced Bayliss & Co last year for a couple of mornings & i turned it off inside 5 mins, thismorning i forced myself to hang in & listen to these wanna be's from Div5 to Div1, what comedians, the jokes on them!
Like to know the real reason for Baylis pulling the pin, i bet its got to do with chief poo ba!

yes i hope that it was just because it was the first show and there was a lot of cobwebs in the cupboard - but very average - i did like the idea of starting the div 7s and up early and not finishing with them after div 1 like last year - where they had to rush thru the 6 & 7 divs

would be nice to get a coach back on like last year for most of the divs chatting about players that they know and understand more within the division

The presenters should have a quick squizz on here each week and they may be able to offer a bit more insight into each club than just relying on where they finished on the ladder last year.

Thought the presenters spoke a lot better but they need to improve the content. I think it will come as the season progresses.

Agree with a previous post, we don't need a recipe. And coach interviews are good. Gives clubs a chance to mention sponsors as well.

NM, my info on Mark Bayliss is that he has now got a 'full time' job and doesn't have the spare time available he once had. John Wilson is supposed to be on there, how the University contingent got on there I don't know, Bayliss couldn't hack the Bill Botten Monday morning fiasco, I do know that!

With Bayliss leaving it is obvious that no one really has any idea anymore, Marty Poole last year had some knowledge but he doesn't look like he is back again. Since the days of Les Davoren it has been a little disapointing. He talked about teams and players with real interest and detail. I know that someone will come on here and say 'well, why don't you give it a go if you think it needs help". We are just putting our point across that it is not up to standard and we won't be listening if it continues.

Well actually  This show is manned by volunteers who stuck their hands up at the beginning of the year. Would you honestly rather have no show at all?

Note: I forgot to listen in - naughty me, so Im not sure how good or bad it really was..

Why can't they organise one person per division to sum up the games? How may people work on the show? 7 divisions is a lot for one or two people to cover with any insight. 70 teams is way more than any other media production would cover.

That would happen in a perfect world Shrek but as you can see, they have struggled to get 2 blokes to cover all divs, let alone 7 people to cover a div each.

Keeping in mind this is a voluntary position which would require the average person to take an hour or so off of their paid work every friday to commit.

As much as I'd like to do it, work would never agree to it.

I caught the last 20 minutes (on holidays, sleep in) and it was good. Much better than last week.
