Mad Monday

Postby schimma » Wed Sep 03, 2008 9:22 am

After the AFL lads put on a fine display this week. What does SAAFL clubs get up to.

Us at SMOSH have a pub crawl around Port Adelaide after the last game the club has played. If you have never been on the pub crawl before you have to have a V on your head. if you smudge it or try and take it off it comes back twice as thick and big. Also we have sing a long and after the sing a longs 2 of the virgins have to scull pickle onion juice. Very messy day. We start and Finish at the Birkenhead. The old pub crawl was down around hindmarsh but because a number of those pubs closed down it moved about 8 years ago.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

I havent heard of too many clubs, outside of AFL and SANFL, who have Mad Mondays if they dont win the flag. The best, and only, footy Mad Monday i have been one was after we won both A and B grade flags. Interesting day when you've just spent 2 days drinking constantly.

The rule for MM was that you had to be at the Pub before 12 otherwise there would be penalties. Teh penalty was a Mad Dog. Tequilla, Lemon and Salt. But you sniff the salt, scull the tequilla and squish the lemon in your eye. There were a few boys only seconds late but they had to do it. A few red eyes after that.

**** off you only get Mad Monday if you win the flag. My biggest Mad Monday was 3 years ago and I walked up the driveway 9:30 Tuesday morning to find the missus packing up the car and ready to leave. Good times.

We usually have one but might only get 10-15 guys there, last year was big as the As won the flag. Usually just head down to the Mawson Lakes Pub or the trots at Globe Derby. One year a certain bloke (Robbie M, or R.Miles) streaked across the track and jumped into the pond for the shrapnel in bloke's pockets, about $40. Hilarious.

In 2000 Loxton's B grade won the flag and I knew Mad Monday was on. I also knew I had a stickler of a boss.
Got up at 4am Monday morning, worked through to 12 to get my day's work done for when the boys came to pick me up.
My boss was still unhappy about that.

Another Mad Monday, after a loss, my coach was also my boss. We left work for a midday lunch - we'll be back to two everyone. We got back to work at about midnight and had to do a couple more hours due to quickly approaching deadlines.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Coming into contact with Port River water may just be the end of him though... :vom:

On second thoughts, the extra mutant-limb he grows could come in handy...
