We introduced the 'no pay no play' rule last year and it worked a treat and the majority of the lads were very receptive. Players now start training in November/ December, and are fully aware of when subs are due. Basically a player now has 5 months to save $200 ($135 if you are an apprentice). If they can't do that then sorry, I have no sympathy if you don't get a game due to being unfinancial.
Ace, we will be in the same boat as you with one of our players. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Just waiting for his clearance to come through at the moment.

They get refused as they sare unfinancial, how does this work, do you pay a player and still expect him to pay his subs, it sounds a bit ridiculous IMO.

All players are expected to pay subs. Ours are $180 ($160 if paid prior to commencement of season) or $125 if student/apprentice($100 before season commences)
There is not normally a problem as it is deducted weekly or in whatever arrangement is made with the player. Some have it taken out in one hit, others every two or three weeks.
This is an exception but it hilights a problem that exists and will only be compounded if the SAAFL uphold this complaint. We were trying to help this lad by not taking it in one or two hits and this is what happens.
Ah well, I guess that's what they teach them out Gawler way.

Ace I notice your fee structure - yet I was told that you have refused a clearance for an U/18 lad to go to Brahma Lodge for $250how does that work

Thanks for asking, this is another nightmare situation where a lad wanted to come to Gepps Cross to play U/18's, we put in a clearance on his behalf to Brahma Lodge and it was refused by Shaun Ryan on the grounds he owed that club $150.00. We spoke with the lad, he agreed to repay us if we paid that money to BL, which we paid via SAAFL.He broke his wrist/arm and didn't play too many games nor did he pay any subs.
Now we have the situation that the lad wants to return to BL, he hasn't paid his subs, we are $150.00 out of pocket and believe that we have every right to expect to recoup the $150.00 plus some of the outstanding subs from 2008.
What do you reckon Brahma Lodge or any other club would do under these circumstances?
