Match Of The Round

Postby Lightning McQueen » Tue Aug 11, 2009 3:20 pm

With finals approaching there is going to be some classic duels this week, div. 5 sees Hope Valley playing BOS for the elusive 5th spot. Central United take on Glenunga in div. 6 for one of the teams to record their first win after they drew in round 9.
Is there any other big matches going on?

CU vs Glenunga would have to be the biggest match... determines who gets the spoon!

question, if they draw again would this be the first time ever two teams have not won a match for the year... wouldn't think it would have happened before.

obviously there are big games everywhere. Div 7 looks like this...

North Pines will be looking to knock off Athelstone for the second time this year and if they do the Raggies could drop to forth and face an elimination final in week 1, prob won't happen though
SHOCS have to knock off Henley to guarantee a finals birth, won't happen though
Flinders have to beat Angle Vale to give themselves a chance of playin finals, should get there
St Pauls will rest their name players (St Kilda style) and will get pantsed.... here's to hoping huh!!!
Houghton will work on their structure and cement their top 3 finish
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

Div 4 has a huge finish to the round also.

Ladder currently looks like this -

3rd Fitzroy - 21 points 53.7%
4th Salisbury West - 20 points 55.7%
5th Pooraka - 20 points 52.2%
6th Golden Grove - 18 points 53.1%

SW plays top of the table CBCOC so you'd think they'd stay on 20 points with a light drop in percentage.
Golden Grove plays bottom of the table North Haven with a possible percentage boost taking them to 20 points also
Pooraka hosts Fitzroy. Fitzroy win away from home and Golden Grove are in but if the Bulls win we are cooked. Unless Salisbury West lose by more than 179 points then we will sneak in either way.

What a great finish and one side is going to be bloody unlucky to miss out !! Could be us.....

Dont write north havern off quite yet. My understanding is that the boys will rally together for watts after having a few tough weeks in his life and also may rally around the coach which may be coaching his last game for the club

There will be a few good games in div 6 this week also.

CLG, Heccies, Trinity all having a chance to finish as high as second or as low as 4th depending on results.

Lockleys has a chance to lock up 5th spot with a win over Mitchell Park or Paralowie could jump past Lockleys with a win over Hectorville and a loss for Lockleys.

One thing for sure is there wont be any resting of players in the top half of the Div6 ladder with alot riding on the results for the top 6.

The hv vs bos match will be the biggest of the round imo, our 3 meetings hold a combined margin of about 2 goals, and sat promises to be no different. but the cu vs glenunga in div 6 would be great to watch.

I don't think there is a bigger game this year (in div 4) then the Pooraka V Fitzroy game this week.
If Pooraka win they can finish 3rd. If they lose they can finish 6th!

Past players and sponsors day at the Pooraka footy club this week with a big triple header starting at around 10:30 I believe! Massive day for the Pooraka footy club, should be a decent crowd so get down to Limblom Park and support the mighty Bulls!

I'm not writing them off Artie (thus my use of the word 'possible'...) but we have a bit to play for too. But the Fitzroy/Pooraka game is definitly the one !!!
