Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Obviously some reference to some lower grade competitions you would think unless you have been hitting the bottle a bit too hard, which it looks like :drinkers: :drinkers:
All the teams in the A1 list all have a background leaning towards college/university/old scholars clubs, (H.H.O.S) while there are five in the A2 group with a background towards the college/university sides. Not sure it all means much, but who knows.

It could be a full amateur grade but that gets blown out the water with Spoc, paoc and Iggies being in there. They have well and truly forgotten their roots.

I think it highly unlikely that Lutherans would get into any "Non Paying" division

Would be safe to say that all but 3 of those teams in that division 1 would not be paying players to play.

2 of them are the C grade sides.

There are not any rules to say you can't pay players. The payment of players has been going on since the late 70's that I know of. (Fact)
The days of players having to be "white washed" to play are long gone, and players can be legally paid to play and have been for many, many years.
Remember that the SAAFL just replaced a salary cap with a points system (both running together actually) so silly to suggest players are not paid as nobody hides it, nor should they.

Clearly not well versed on the history of the game. The SAFA or the SA Football Association went out of business in the early 80's and all the clubs that defected, nearly all coming running back, except one or two in the Southern League. For some of the clubs, it was the end of them as well, as they started that far back in the SAAFL, that they also went out of business, over the years. Do you want to re-name the SAAFL with the name of something, that went broke?

It is the SAAFL and always will be. The fact that players get paid and have done for over 30 years seems your only grievance. Build the bridge sunshine and get over it, as it won't be stopping the payment of players, no matter what you have as the name of the association.

Actually tigerpie, you are on the money
The name is under discussion
But there's as much chance of it being called SAFA as Ireland asking to join Great Britain

Yes. You are right. Was meant to be early 90's (typo). Did not think it was as late at 1995 though, but you are obviously right as it was sometime in the 1990's. Anyway. Will never be the SAFA.

Yardy i played for a SAFA club in the late 80's early 90's.That club then went to the ammos, and now SFL.
I dont really care what the comp is called. I'm just making the point that its called an amateur comp when it clearly isnt.
Had a mate back in the mid 80's who got big money at Kilburn when apparently player payments werent allowed.

Maybe call it the claytons amateur league. ;)
