heard some news today!!!
North haven have secured the services of an x div 4 coach,
any guess' who????

In what type of role ?

do believe it is some sort of development officer
has done this somewhere before but was fired a few years back!!!!
i wonder how he will go and what he has to develop out at haven's?????

It'd wanna be a footy director role. Deadset, if Haven have enough cash to create and pay for a 'development officer', we may as well just make them the 10th SANFL team.

Taking a serious look at the clubs within this division in 2008 and taking into account the almighty Div 4 poll, I must say that there is not a single stand out team. This is a big surprise considering the trend of the last two seasons. Is there anyone out there that can give a convincing reason/s why their club will do well in the up coming season?

Also, and this is not in anyway meant to be a dig at this division, but with clubs like Salisbury West & Rosewater long gone, who is going to be the most intimidating club? Certainly none of the college teams and you may as well include Unley & Lutheran in that womanly list. In this level there are usually multiple clubs known for there 'Hard Man' tactics, who will take this title in 2008?

That's a great cast of the line there heater31 however the tuffness was left to their Salisbury West money men, sorry i mean club men, without them in 2007 they would not have been close to being intimidating.

so rosewater are tough because they come from rosewater i guess, what a generalisation..didnt help them win many games

i do remember pag saying that after an encounter with portland he could barely walk the next day!!!

Ok, i will have a go at assessing the teams for 2008.

Adel. Lutheran - Will find it tough IMO after a very good year in D5. Will need to recruit a few blokes to be competitive. My mail tells me they might be losing a few instead.
CBCOC - Should be around the mark after spending 2007 in D3. Depth may be their problem, but as long as they can keep their group together, should be involved in finals in 2008.
Fitzroy - Similiar situation to Lutheran, but are improving their depth by all reports. Could be the surprise packet, as they do have a core group of very good players.
Mitcham - The team to beat IMO. They were not far off the top 2 in 2007, and still have improvement in them. Club has huge depth.
North Haven - Should be there-abouts in 2008, after a dissapointing 2007 season. Were touted as flag favourites this time last year. Their top 6 players are as good as any, but injuries and depth can and will test them. Have heard they are actively recruiting again.
PAOC - Coming down from D3, will be very keen to get back up. Like others, need to keep core group together and they will be more than competitive. Top 3-4.
Pooraka - Had a good second half of 2007. Need to be more consistant, but a proud club that should play finals.
Portland - Consistancy an issue in 2007. Young group, but need to start performing. Depth ok, but probably lack a couple of experienced. 'old-heads'.
Pulteney OS - Had some good wins in 2007, without ever really threatening the top 5. IMO, will struggle to mix it with top 3, but could battle for 5th.
Unley - Lucky to avoid relegation, and may struggle again. Need to improve alot.

Fitzroy (as long as I've been there) have always been hard at the ball.
I think they've always had a reputation, going back to the Renown Park Swans days...
However, I wouldn't say there was any thuggery at the club, just blokes who go in hard at the ball & body.

i agree that fitzroy could be a surprise packet, know one or two blokes from down there and sounds like they have a very good core group!!!
havens must concentrate on getting not only stars but real club players to strengthen the club, last year with a few injuries to A graders it hurt the whole club as there B's were rather weak!!!

Fitzroy (as long as I've been there) have always been hard at the ball.

To a point its a true story though, if you take a look at the tribunal reports from 2005-2007, it's those clubs in the Northern Suburbs that have had the most reports/suspensions. Each club would have received a copy...
