Understandable why they might pick and choose.......if that indeed is the reason..... At the risk of opening up this can of worms again... to forfeit your only side during a season more than once (if at all).........should be season "over"....imo.

I can see where you are coming from but I'm sure the SAAFL would like to keep as many clubs as possible afloat.

Cohiba thats a bit rough on the wingfield boys who are already in a comp already miles out of their capabilities, they should be in div C1 or C2 to have any hope of winning a game.

and now your a bit cross cos they would prefer to stay home than play in a 70 goal loss? become a player and imagine yourself out there on the field copping a flogging like this, no thanks

Firstly.... why would you think I'm cross just because I was expressing an opinion....

Secondly.... I was playing in the SAAFL when you weren't even a tadpole in your old man's sack....so I don't have to really imagine anything.

My point is..... if a Club or it players anticipate a hiding......and throw in the towel before game day because it all too hard......what's to suggest that next they might decide to play only home matches instead of having to travel because their best chance of win is on it's home deck.

Whilst I don't disagree with LM about the SAAFL's strength being underpinned by having a large representation of Clubs ...... a Club that can't field one team for a season of football, will always cause disruption and controversy within the Division it is playing in. Forfeit an 'A' grade game, forfeit the season.

Marbles....I'm happy for you to tell me of any Clubs within SAAFL that you believe could survive and flourish as a viable entity playing with one team that could guarantee a full season of football. Whilst I believe C & D grade comps should be exactly that...... I am an advocate of 'merge or die' because within the Divisions there is proof of successes that would validate my viewpoint. That said, pride and obstinacy are usually the big hurdles to overcome when its the traditionalists vs the progressives.......

I can understand your empathies lay with the players at Wingfield Anglevale, Kilburn, Brahma Lodge, Flinders and Mitchell Park at the moment. But their plight is no different to that experienced by many Clubs in the past.......and must wonder which Clubs might be fighting for their existence in ten years time. Henley perhaps.........reality or consult with Dr Phil. :)

well my poor reading comprehension skills have a lot of work to do here :)

i wouldnt blame wingfield for this predicament. flinders parks cried theyre way out of div 7 to div 7r, wingfield claimed to have 2 sides at the time but didnt come march 2014, the chaos kept wingfield in as a patch job for flinders parks, and then left in wingfield to face no hope of winning a game.

flinders parks, fall out of numbers likely caused by because it wanted to be no where near smithfield again after last seasons events, so now the full circle is coming back to bite smithfield on bum with a no game weekend because a patch job div 7 club aint keen on becoming the SAAFLs latest victim to the largest ever score recorded.

wingfield have done awesomely to stick around and they dont deserve a 70 goals thrashing like this

good on those boys who still are one side down there after all these rounds and all these smashings

last week they actually won their first quarter for the season

Again .......if their motivation not to play was to avoid a 70 goals thrashing ..........the casting of blame for their predicament has nothing to do with it. They just don't appear to have a plan B in place to go forward as a football club.

whats funny about the these current equations is that if smithfield didnt pull their stunts of last year....

# they would hav played ingle farm in div 7 granny last year
# theyd currently be in div 6 today
# the farmers may have not won the flag
# angle vale would have remained in div 7 & wouldnt have faced their current decimation
# flinders parks would hav 2 teams in div 7, instead of their boys pulling a cant be **** facing smithfield again
# wingfield would have been allocated to a lower easier div

C'mon Marbs Smithfield Football Club has nothing to do with us losing a side this year!!
Just lost more than a whole team of players from last year.
It a cycle we hope!!

Where will Smithfield be next season? I keep hearing rumours that they are making this season their swan song - win the flag and then pull the pin!?! :?

No chance of that mate, the club is very financially stable and there are too many people out there trying to make the place go forward.

Adelaide Uni vs Modbury = if uni lose & north pines beat smosh, uni go down to 4th place, north pines to third

but the week after north pines play smithfield & uni play smosh

uni must win both games to retain 3rd after 18 rounds

And Henley play their final match this week.

Henley will be hoping for Modbury to loose the last two matches and they may play finals??
