I sure didn't see Uni knocking over Tea Tree Gully like that...

Neither! Well done to Uni, so far a pretty decent return to div 1 footy for the blacks!

I agree with you there. I predicted at the start of the year that Tea Tree Gully would be the better performed of the promoted sides, but after round 10, they're both holding their own for the most part.

Maybe Tee Tree Gully on the inside kinda felt sorry for pumping Uni in the Div 2 Grand Final, so last week they let em have a couple of points in return

I really did think the Gullies were better than a 10 goal loss to Uni though.

Not bad for a Div 8R side... Holland x 4 plus a Kelleway... not bad at all.

Surely they will get votes instead of Wes Legrand????

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Here's my thoughts for tomorrow's games:

St. Peters OC v PHOS Camden - St Peters got up by a point against Broadview last week, while PHOS Camden lost by 90 on the road against Salisbury North. Although both sit in the bottom 5, they're worlds apart. I feel that St Peters are a legitimate threat to any side they play against, but that PHOS Camden don't present much of a challenge to opposing sides, apart from Gaza. That statement is not intended to mean any disrespect, but the results of the season thus far suggest that this is the case. I do feel PHOS Camden's best hope of making the match a contest is if someone is able to shut down Henry Hardy, but I think that this is too tough an ask. St Peters OC by 16 points.

Henley v Tea Tree Gully - Tea Tree Gully are a bit Jekyll and Hyde this season, although I think they are better than their results show. I was surprised by their recent losses to Gaza and Adelaide University, and I'm sure they'd want to make amends against an improving Henley today. Both sides are potent up forward, and the defensive matchups are sure to be a key factor in the fortunes of both sides. A must win game for the Gullies, and an important game for Henley to solidify their spot in the 5. My gut feeling says Tea Tree Gully, but a betting man would tip Henley at home, but only just. Henley by 5 points.

Salisbury North v Rostrevor OC - Match of the round. It's a near certainty that both sides will secure the double chance this season, but in what order? Tomorrow's clash will go a long way to answering that question. The Hawks secured a 19 point win against Rostrevor in Round 2, but a lot of time has passed since then. However, the Hawks would be looking to have the wood on Rostrevor, while the ROCS would be looking to even the ledger. Salisbury North are unbeaten at home this year, and their forward six has the variety and firepower (Solly, M. Hood, Evans, Camplin, Jordan etc) to trouble every side. Rostrevor has a class act for a focal point (Litster), while Manuel has been consistent in his forward forays this season. However, I think Salisbury North's backmen are up to the task, and that is where the game will be won. Salisbury North by 21 points.

Adelaide University v Goodwood Saints - Goodwood Saints are the deserved frontrunners this year, with only one loss, while Adelaide University are looking to keep their place in the top 5. For this reason, I believe Uni will come out with all guns blazing, as they'll be more desperate. But for every challenge thrown their way, Goodwood Saints have the solution. A loss to Uni could see them fall back into the pack, and open up the competition for 5th spot, while a win would see them in a good spot to clinch a finals berth. Goodwood's double chance is assured, but I wouldn't count on them being complacent. Goodwood Saints by 36 points.

Gaza v Broadview - A win to Broadview would see them with a 2 game buffer on Gaza and the dreaded relegation zone, while a win to Gaza would heat up the contest to avoid demotion. While Gaza has a sprinkling of talent (Allocca, Boxer, Blacksell etc), they lack the depth required to be a competitive Div 1 side, whereas Broadview has depth in spades (without any out-and-out stars) and a good team game. If Broadview can negate Gaza's elite, the match is as good as theirs. Broadview by 9 points.

Gaza beat Broadview by 3 points. Great game. Great crowd. Umps tried their hardest to get Broadview over the line though in the last quarter.

Nice! It's an interesting little battle to see who'll avoid relegation.

Salisbury North defeated Rostrevor OC by 56 points.

Definitely nothing to do with any of that. Even some of the broadies players admitted they were getting a good ride in the last quarter

Yeah mate, probably. I didn't do one for this weekend, as I've been recovering from a little surgery on Thursday. But you're right, it shall be an interesting round of matches coming up.

THE RUN HOME

With only 6 rounds to go, some teams will be preparing for an assault on the finals, some will be preparing for 2014, either in Div 1 or in Div 2.

Adelaide University
(6 wins, 6 losses)
Rostrevor OC (H), St Peters OC (A), Gaza (H), Tea Tree Gully (A), Henley (A), Salisbury North (H). I think Adelaide Uni are good enough to win 3, maybe 4 of their last 6 games. I can't really see them knocking off Salisbury North or Rostrevor OC at this stage, but they have a decent run home.

Broadview
(3 wins, 9 losses)
Tea Tree Gully (A), Salisbury North (A), PHOS Camden (A), Rostrevor OC (H), St Peters OC (H), Goodwood Saints (H).
A really tough run home, I'd say. The only games I see them being a real threat in are against PHOS Camden and St Peters OC. They'll likely have a 1-5 finish.

Gaza
(3 wins, 9 losses)
PHOS Camden (H), Rostrevor OC (A), Adelaide University (A), Salisbury North (H), Henley (A), St Peters (H).
Gaza are in a battle with Broadview for the last relegation spot; a battle neither team wants to win. However, I think Gaza have a much tougher finish to the season than the Tigers, with this week's showdown with PHOS Camden their only real chance of a win for the year. If they can pinch a win against Adelaide University or St Peters OC, it might be interesting. Another 1-5 prospect.

Goodwood Saints
(11 wins, 1 loss)
Henley (A), Tea Tree Gully (H), Salisbury North (A), PHOS Camden (H), Rostrevor OC (H), Broadview (A).
Barring a major mishap, Goodwood Saints will finish minor premiers. The only 50/50 game ahead is against Salisbury North, and the Hawks are always hard to beat at home. They'll go 5-1 at worst.

Henley
(8 wins, 4 losses)
Goodwood Saints (H), PHOS Camden (A), St Peters OC (A), Adelaide University (H), Gaza (H), Rostrevor OC (H).
At this stage, the Sharks look to have 4th spot sewn up. I predict they'll go 4-2 from here, with the losses likely to come from Goodwood Saints and Rostrevor OC.

PHOS Camden
(1 win, 11 losses)
Gaza (A), Henley (H), Broadview (H), Goodwood Saints (A), Salisbury North (H), Tea Tree Gully (A).
Likely to go 0-5 from here, but they could upset Gaza this week if the planets align. Div 2 beckons in 2014.

Rostrevor OC
(9 wins, 3 losses)
Adelaide University (A), Gaza (H), Tea Tree Gully (H), Broadview (A), Goodwood Saints (A), Henley (A).
The ROCS will no doubt finish 3rd, with only Goodwood Saints and Henley to present any real challenge. I see them going 5-1.

Salisbury North
(10 wins, 2 losses)
St Peters OC (A), Broadview (H), Goodwood Saints (H), Gaza (A), PHOS Camden (A), Adelaide University (A).
The Hawks are the real deal this year, and look to have a decent finish ahead. The Goodwood Saints game at home in a few weeks promises to be a Grand Final preview, and the Hawks will be looking to make amends for the loss in Round 7. Unless something really goes wrong, I predict them to go 6-0 from here, and finish 2nd on percentage.

St Peters OC
(5 wins, 7 losses)
Salisbury North (H), Adelaide University (H), Henley (H), Tea Tree Gully (A), Broadview (A), Gaza (A).
I think St Peters OC can almost pinch a spot in the 5, provided other results go their way. They're playing, this week aside, teams situated just above and just below them and they'd fancy themselves. I predict a 3-3 finish, and they'll just miss out on a finals berth.

Tea Tree Gully
(4 wins, 8 losses)
Broadview (H), Goodwood Saints (A), Rostrevor OC (A), St Peters OC (H), Adelaide University (H), PHOS Camden (H).
Injuries haven't helped Tea Tree Gully this season, but they can regain some pride if they can pull a few wins at this stage of the season. I think they'll finish 3-3, and be a much better side next season.
