You taking the piss?

Absolutely, can't stand the place.

On the same token, I've never played at Glenunga without it pissing down and feeling like I'm working on a Tasmanian farm.

I played for Glenunga about 23 years ago, and am still cleaning mud out of my ears.

Fortunate enough to play 5 years for Uni and our home games were at Uni Oval. Was an absolute pleasure to play there.

A fantastic deck.

Not related to D7, but on the topic of great surfaces. Old Igs have moved a couple of hundred meters to the right in light of the redevelopment of Railway Tce. I drove past there last week and the surface looks an absolute treat. Will be interesting to see if it stays that way once winter sets in.

Played there on Saturday. Ground itself a tad devoid of atmosphere similar to many parklands grounds but the surface itself was amazing.

finn, help me out.

Before the game I said to our coach that the Southern end of your ground always has more goals kicked than the North, to the point that when I was coaching I played a +1 at that end to start with. The term I used is it almost works like a funnel. Pop it up and the ball seems to fly though much easier.

I was unmercifully mocked and laughed at. There were even sarcastic cries of "use the funnel!" from the sideline on occasions.

Is this your experience? Tell me I am not crazy.

Please note this will be used as evidence to support my argument.

Like the former PAOC coach who told us it was easier running into the wind because you get more air in your lungs (That wasn't a pi$$take either)

I'd say you'd be right morel from my experience. The northern end is very exposed whereas the southern end has some coverage to protect from the wind.

Thanks MW, I will demand an apology from my brethren. I also think there is a slope towards the river.

Plus a gravitational anomaly.

I think that the pockets (especially the grandstand side) give you a bigger look at the goals than the Northern end. A rough trawl through the memory banks agrees with you; then the side I'm involved with always seems to kick more goals at the Northern end. It also seems to be shorter at that end even though the centre circle is half way.
Now that the drainage is much better the surface is generally excellent.

Another good game vs The God Botherers on Satdee. Played in good spirits. Thought again they probably dominated larger portions of the game but our forwards knew the conditions a bit better and took their opportunities.

Must say, the Luthie D7R team is phenomenal. Can't see anyone (other than the Div 5 Side ressies) getting within cooee of them.
