Not withstanding the possibility of Gepps Cross being an improved outfit this year, I wouldn't be placing too much credence on your performance this week against Gaza and how you might go in the finals. The Spruse Moose wrote:old moz wrote:Capt, any room on the bandwagon? might have to come have another look at GX, to see how far they have come since i saw them against TTG. they seem to be travelling well at the moment. have some mates from the "black & white days" so have a good interest in GX. do any of those fossils show up now?
gepps cross looking very comfortable, with a very strong reserves team backing up a very classy a grade team. a team to watch, playing gaza away this weekend could sum up their year
The Gaza FC are still on step 3 of the 12 steps to recovery from their recent finals failures and I doubt any of them would have a made a any sort of recovery. The H/A season has been their specialty for years, I'd be using Goodwood as the real gauge but they do the opposite to Gaza and go along in 3rd gear for much of the H/A season and turn it on when it matters.
Roey himself knows how fragile Gaza are when it matters. In 04 Gaza beat Broadview by 20 odd goals in the lead up and Broadview then smashed them by nearly the same in the Grand Final.
On the other hand, Roey is certainly earning himself a solid reputation of being able to bring a side together. First with Broadies and now at a club that had been unsettled by some in fighting and at least from the outside looks like he's keeping everyone in check.
